Never in doubt that we were going to be back in this..... ;)

Liverpool will be in the second pot of seeds for the Champions League 2021/22 group stage draw.

They will be joined by one of the following teams from pot 1.

      Villarreal
      Atletico Madrid
      Bayern Munich
      Inter Milan
      Lille
      Sporting Lisbon
Zenit St Petersburg (* if Man City win the CL)

Teams they cannot face in the group stage, who are also in Pot 2 include

      Real Madrid
      Barcelona
      Juventus
      Paris Saint-Germain
      Sevilla
Borussia Dortmund (* if Chelsea win the CL)

Preliminary rounds get underway on the 22nd June, but the group stage draw isn't made until August 26th.

Group games begin on the 14th September 2021 and finish on 8th December 2021.

The final next year, in St Petersburg, is on the 28th May 2022.

Thanks for posting. I notice the traditional heavies are more prominent in Pot 2.

Hopefully the coming season marks a return to normalcy. Normal preseason. Normal set of fixtures. Normal full stadia. Normal away support. Normal fitness with players not missing for CoVid (or suspicion of CoVid). If we can get this I like our chances to contend for honors in this event and the league.

Next season has it's own set of challenges. The Olympics at the beginning, AFCON during the busiest, a disrupted pre season with some players available from Day 1 and others with minimal rest arriving at the last minute. I think away support will still be restricted, especially at European games.

While it's still too early to predict the draw, there are the usual teams to avoid from Pot 1, Atletico, Bayern, Inter, possibly Villarreal also. In the lower pots, there will probably be Atalanta, AC Milan, Seville, Lyon, the Dutch and Turkish teams to avoid as well. But even last year, we had our own issues dealing with Midtylland from Pot 4. So there's plenty of banana skins in there. We'll have to wait until all the qualifiers are done, to see who we want.
