Wonder what was everybody's thoughts on him today?

In my opinion he looked pretty good for a debut. Some instances where he was slightly late in terms of his reaction but he recovered pretty good every time. Also, my guess is that there is a rhythm and pace to the PL game that you have to adapt to so he will improve a lot. Physically he is a beast to the point where some of his challenges look like fouls at first sight but the replays clearly show it is just strong shoulder play. He's pretty quick, looks comfortable on the ball. I guess he will be given the freedom to run with it like Matip does once he has a few good games under his belt. I can recall one or two intercepted passes but once again, nothing bad enough to be worried about.

Thought he fine for a 1st PL match. Looked a little nervous initially, but CP started well. Seemed to grow into it though, and played a couple of decent long passes [one to Jota who just couldn't take it on the chest], brought the ball out a little bit the odd time. Looks quick and even if his guy got ahead of him was able to recover, didn't lunge in.  Think he'll be happy, Jürgen too.

He's got a massively high ceiling and all the assets to be a world class CB. Pretty decent performance for a debut, some missed passes, a couple of times he wasn't positioned right, but everyone can see his quality and potential, and he will learn from the best in the world.

The guy almost makes Virgil look normal sized when he’s next to him… absolute tank and if that’s his debut then it’s a good sign.

To be expected in his first game that he would start of a bit shaky but he soon grew into the role and I think he's gonna be another beast for us!

What I am surprised with is, it's his first game and we had a presence like Benteke and then that other fella whose name starts with D, scored 2 in his debut and looked dangerous every time he went for the ball, why does Virgil not stay as close to these lads as possible and leaves it to the newbie to mind them when the ball comes in dangerously into our backline. Why doesn't Virg take charge and say ..."leave this c**t to me"?

Don't want to talk too fast here but it seems increasingly likely that once VVD is back to top form and this lad's adaptation period is over that he and VVD will form an absolutely disgusting CB pairing. His physical attributes are just monstrous. Fast, strong, tall. Add to that his ability to tackle well in very sensitive areas and moments, good on the ball as he can pass it but he also can move with it if required.

He nailed Ronaldo early on. Wasn’t fazed at all, very impressive for his second game.

He was OUTSTANDING today. He's not played much for us this season and then he gets thrown in at the deep end at Old Trafford. A big ballsy call by Jürgen, but I suppose that's what the best managers do.

He absolutely bossed the defence and was our star defender. Always on the front foot, quick on the chase. Great under the ball and away with the headers. Fantastic. Couldn't have asked more from him.
