Ibrahima Konate Player Thread (D)

I thought he had a good game against the Spuds as well. Looked a little bit of a headless chicken in his first few appearances but he has settled down nicely and has put a couple of excellent games together back to back. Physically he has all the tools to be a really dominant player, he looks comfortable technically as well. Edwards might have done it again.

What a prospect we have on our hands here.

10/10 game from Konate in the champions league - superb.

Thought he looked good when we bought him but it appears the way he is being eased into games here and there, not to mention training with Virg and Joel, gives us a lot of hope for the rest of his career.

VVD is one of the best CB's to have ever played the game though. I think Konate is great and I'm so pleased we have him, but where is the higher ceiling? In what aspect can he be better than Virg? What weakness does Virg have that could make Konate, or anyone, a superior defender?

I'll concede I do not know how VVD played at 22, but I know he didn't have one of the greats playing beside him to learn from.

He is, but doubt anyone suspected that would be the case when he was 22.

 Its quite concievable that Konate could be deemed the best 6 7 8 years from now, plus, as you say, he has the benefit of playing alongside the best i  the business now.

He only just Rose today I heard

Positionally, he's had teething problems, but he's so young at a new club. He's got everything physicaly in that position that you could want. Great pace,power, strength, recovery speed. He's gonna be brilliant. I wasn't sure about his attacking headers and now he goes and does that. Twice. A Trent or Andy cross with Virgil and Konate there, big trouble.
