Saw bits of the game. Got caught on counter and at set pieces but we looked sharp on the ball.

So delighted to see Virg and Gomez back on the pitch.

Can't be arsed to watch pre-season so gave it a miss like usual but great to see that Virgil and Gomez got minutes.

Same here. Also good to see Mane, Oc and Taki score. Can only help their confidence.

The manager was confident enough to give Virgil and Gomez some game time and Virgil did seem a little cautious compared with the ferocious player we knew.

Time will tell but obviously after such an horrific injury an exact replica should not be expected immediately.

      Well impressed with the kids.

How good was it to hear Virgil's and Joe's names being mentioned on the pitch tonight - brilliant and welcome back lads, we've missed you big time, and a nice little work out for them.

How good was Gordon as well tonight? What a player he's going to be.

Big question is how did Van Dijk look on his rebuilt knee? Any tentative play like he was protecting it?

      How about Gomez?

I honestly did not notice anything out of place other than maybe a little hesitation on the challenge he made on the 4th goal but my guess is that this is normal.

Had a few good sprints back, made a few tackles where he took the ball away pretty confidently before making a quick pass a teammate around. He also pinged 2 or 3 of his trademark long passes and they were pinpoint and full of power as usual. There's also an instance towards the last 5 mnutes of the game where he attempted/was going for what looked like a pretty powerful volley in the opposition's box but the ball was taken away and a defender got in his way before he could connect and so he kinda aborted the move (but he was going for full power before the ball was taken away as far as I can tell).

I like what I see from Ox and Elliott so far. We do not need reinforcements from outside, just give these two fellas more game time.

I watched the highlights and it seemed Ox was playing as an AM behind the front 3?

I know Gordon is young and so he'll most probably see loan minutes or more U-18/U-23 before he sees serious senior team minutes but wow this kid is good for his age.

He is quick, agile, has an eye for space, a good 1st touch. I was very impressed with the long through pass he made (to Jota I think). It requires confidence and skill to pull something like that.

I'd love to see more of him and know what is the club's plan for him (are they looking to loan him, bring him into the 1st team picture, promote him to the U-23 or just send him back to the U-18).

Edit: What I liked the most was that it was very apparent that given enough minutes he will either score, assist or create a dangerous situation that will result in a goal for us.
