Anyone up for talking about the football team and upcoming season?

I generally wait until I see how the squad is taking shape.

We'll see a few "outs", and probably a player or 2 coming in, plus the usual loans.
I'm hoping Klopp thinks Elliott is ready for more game time.

Then there's the importance so many seem to place on pre-season friendlies, which are basically meaningless these days.
They are training exercises is all. Yes, it's nice to have a look, but that's about it.

30 minutes for the matches with different XI, confirmed by Klopp.

Hope for Elliott and Jones to impress because we can saved so much money. Jones just needs to work hard because he showed what he has, now Elliott needs to show us his Blackburn's form.

Philips possibly leaving soon, not risking him, or could simply be a small knock ?

Trent Alexander-Arnold captains the Reds in the first game of the evening against Innsbruck, with Jürgen Klopp naming a youthful line-up that also includes Owen Beck, Tyler Morton and Kaide Gordon.

Ibrahima Konate will then make his debut for the club in the second match, with starts for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

James Milner will wear the armband against Stuttgart.

v Wacker Innsbruck: Karius, Alexander-Arnold (c), Matip. B. Davies, Beck, Clarkson, Morton, Cain, Gordon, Origi, Minamino.

v Stuttgart: Adrian, Bradley, Konate, R. Williams, Tsimikas, Milner (c), Keita, Elliott, Mane, Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Subs for both matches: H. Davies, Wilson, N. Williams, Koumetio.

      The lesser spotted Ben Davies.

I wonder if either of VVD or Gomez will be fit enough for the start of the season.  Hopefully Matip can stay fit for a few weeks as we may need to start with him and Konate at CB and buy a few more weeks/months for the other 2 to get fully fit and match ready.

After the horror show of last season I'm more than happy for them to take their time and come back when they feel 100%.

I'm sure there will be some kind of internationals about a week after the season starts so they could probably do with dodging those.

My take-away from those two 30minuters:

-Joel will be alongside VVD as long as he's fit, he's just that good, sorry @konate, gomez
-Ox looked decent and sharp, flashback to 2018
-Elliott looked really motivated, like this kid
-Tsikimas looked decent, but I can see why Klopp only plays Robbo, Tsikimas just plays not as aggressive as Robbo would
-Karius was Karius, the goal was 50% on him
-couldn't tell if Mané was the old one again, too few sprints to determine if he got his speed back
-Origi, Minamino are gone, showed signs of not caring too much
-Keita looked ok and wasn't carted off the field, but man, the dude is just slow, he does everthing thru his football skills

I don't think anyone on here doubts his quality. He's always looked the best partner for VVD.

After 4 or so years though it's hard to picture him being fit for a sustained period.
