The 2021–22 UEFA Champions League is the 67th season of Europe's premier club football tournament organised by UEFA, and the 30th season since it was renamed from the European Champion Clubs' Cup to the UEFA Champions League. The Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg will host the final.

This year Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, and Chelsea have progressed from the Premier League.
Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg are the teams to represent the Bundesliga.
In Serie A, it is Inter, Milan, Atalanta and Juventus who make the Champions League.
Five more teams from the rest of Europe have achieved automatic entry after winning their respective leagues.
Zenit, Club Brugge, Dynamo Kiev, Ajax and Besiktas are those sides.

Preliminary round semifinals take place on Tuesday:

Folgore of San Marino host Prshtina of Kosovo.
HB Torshavn of Faroe Islands host Club Escaldes of Andorra.

(EDIT: I guess these matches and the match between the winners is to be played in Albania).

These teams need to progress through this and four other qualifying rounds to have the chance to play Liverpool in the group stage.

I know you'll all be on the edge of your seat following the live webcasts of these matches....

3rd qualifying round is when I start paying attention.

Doubt anyones ever made it from pre-qualifying to the group stage.

TNS in Wrexham was a laugh. Having a bevvy talking to an actual TNS fan in the Wethies there then watched some Wrexham hoolie wannabes get slapped by some Scouse kids outside. (Some carry on from the previous Wrexham friendly the weekend before)

Could do with a few more friendlies there now they're owned by Deadpool!!

Sooo...the away goals rule has finally been scrapped. Good riddance I think, though I'm sure some will miss it.

So instead, they hand the advantage to the team with a 2nd leg home game

I'm happy to see that removed, though perhaps it would be better to go straight to penalties.

But that's down to luck of the draw. Think I prefer the extra time.

What I mean is, the home team now gets an extra 30 mins to settle the tie in front of their fans, with no negative. Previously, with the away goals bonus, the extra time also gave the away team opportunity to grab a crucial away goal.

How is the home team in the 2nd leg determined?

UEFA talking about encouraging more attacking games, the away goals gave away teams incentive to attack. Bus Parking will increase

Yep, plus it means more playing time in an already congested season.

Conversely, with away goals being so important, it makes home teams more hesitant to play a more open, attacking game from fear of getting scored on in what could decide the tie. Teams like Atletico will park the bus regardless of whether the away rule exists.

Should have just removed it for extra time.

Was always unfair that the away team in the second leg got a possible 30 minutes more for an away goal compared to the home team.

Awful short sighted decision. Makes the likes of the Italians, Mourinhos and Simeones of the game, sit even longer in their own box away from home, as they have no incentive to score a goal, even in extra time.

No more St. Etienne/Olympiakos nights for us, where the away goal factor brought added spice to the task at hand, and getting through even better. With the abolition of the Golden Goal, Silver Goal, and now the Away Goal Rule, there really is no point in going through the motions in extra time anymore. Just scrap it and get on with the penalties then, because that's all anyone on and off the pitch, is really interested in. Even though going out on penalties is arguably even more unfair than going out on away goals in normal play.
