I wish he was still here. We need a player like him ... at least one. But no way should we have taken him back, sorry.

Yep, definitely would have had him

Jacob Ramsey looks a very good player

Played well against them in the FA Cup too, classy player with bundles of ability. Villa are building a decent side wth one or two I wouldn't mind seeing in a red shirt. I can see them pushing for top 6 next year.

Being honest I find that staggering - he faked an injury to force a move away , he was that desperate to leave - why would anyone want that sort of person back at the club

I'm ambivalent, I understand the hostility, but Gerrard was a millimetre from leaving and now he's a hero and club legend. It's a short career and players are looking to get the best for themselves. If there is any genuine loyalty to place and culture in football it is exceptionally rare.

I find it unbelievable you could take him back after what he did.  :o If the likes of Tevez ever  came back to United I’d stop watching the Cnuts and become a Liverpool supporter.  ;D

Not really the same situation as Tevez really though

He didn’t leave and join our direct rivals

He left for way over his actual value which gave us the money to sign two key pieces of our jigsaw

Coutinho seemed to me a lovely fella on a personal level. And come on, what do you care about a player who was great for us only to leave and show no loyalty? You were glad he left except for the fee we got.

From a Manc prospective yes your right,  glad he left. However, i couldn't tolerate any player doing that to our club. Maybe its just me, i have more sense than some of you lot who would have him back.  ;D

Gerrard didn't go on strike. He didn't fake injury. He didn't hand in a transfer request on the morning of a big match and he didn't behave like an absolute c*nt toward the club and the fans.

Oh and by that time he was already a legend. Coutinho wasn't and never will be. He could have been ... but he walked out on Jürgen, his team and us because the grass was greener in his eyes.

I've forgiven Phil  ... I hope he does OK at villa and enjoys his football again. But after the way he threw us away id never take him back ... as much as we could do with creativity and goals in midfield.

Think I remember VVD handing in a transfer request and ending up training alone at Saints before joining us, was a bit of a mess after we had to apologise to them for an illegal approach etc etc    Leaving a club can sometimes be a messy business.

I'm not bitter about his leaving, looking at it in the round, and we did OK from him leaving.   And certainly would have taken him on a loan.

Looking at the bench, if I see AOC, Taki and others ... and Coutinho ... know who I'd be bringing on.

Almost all of the great players you have had in your history would have left had they found better opportunities, from Best to Beckham. Hell, Ronaldo was playing for a successful team, but left for the bigger and more glamorous club. Don't see any ' snake' references from you there, more like the opposite. More like your attitude is he's the greatest and most perfect being who ever breathed.

Our bench isn't good enough. Our midfield isn't creative enough or score any goals ... yes I'd have coutinho over keita milner Chamberlain jones thiago etc etc etc. But its not about that. It's about not taking back a player who was a snake and totally downed tools and caused uproar for months to get his way. No thanks.
