Ok let's sell the club then sign Mbappe and not win another CL for 20 years.

Real Madrid 'who have much publicised financial issues'....

Real Madrid have made a £137m bid to sign Paris St-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

The French World Cup winner, 22, joined PSG in 2017 in a transfer worth £165.7m and his contract expires in June 2022.

Mbappe has scored 133 goals in 174 games for PSG and won three Ligue 1 titles and three French Cups.

Real Madrid, who have much publicised financial issues, have only signed defender David Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich this summer.

However, high earners Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane have moved on, to PSG and Manchester United respectively, and Real evidently feel sufficiently confident about their finances to make an approach for one of the most highly-rated players in the world.

It is not known how the fee would be structured.

PSG, who have not yet responded to the bid, signed Argentina forward Lionel Messi earlier this month after he left Barcelona.

If Real are successful, it could trigger a number of deals before the transfer deadline.

It is known Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Juventus is uncertain and PSG are thought to be interested in the Portuguese, which raises the intriguing possibility of a link-up with Messi, his rival for the world's best player for well over a decade.

Manchester City are among the clubs to have been offered Ronaldo but are not thought to be interested in a deal.

Last week both Ronaldo and Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri denied the forward wanted to leave.

This thread is a bit of a pipe dream really, always has been. Only hope to ever get this lad would be on a bosman but even then i do not believe we could compete with the competition for his signature.

But do we really want to tho? Good young player BUT his wages would be astronomical. Then other players would want the same wages. Could end up poisoning our squads harmony.

We have some good players, but the reason we have been doing well is our boss and that our squad play for each other. I just don't want to loose that.

I'd have him all bloody day! But it has never really been on the cards, i think he just likes the fans, the stadium and has heard good things from Fabinho. The press blow this up a but and the fans get carried away. That's all it is.

This transfer offer defies logic and common sense from a financial point of view for all 3 parties involved:

Real - Why offer 160-180 mil for him if you can sign him for free in january ? (and him joining on 1st july)

Psg - Why turn down such an offer ? With 180 mil you can sign Lewandowski and Pogba both, or even Haaland.

Mbappe - Why not wait 1 year and go to Real for free and pocket much more money as a free player ? Also right now PSG has a much stronger team than Real Madrid, you play alongside Messi for 1 year where you can win every trophy available, and then depart for Real or any club you wish or offers you the most money.

It really baffles the mind, the only explanation i've read is that Florentino Perez has business in Qatar and deals with the people in power there (he has a construction company and maybe has contracts in infrastructure or something like this) and doesnt want to alter his dealings there. So he offers PSG a fair ammount of money and offers them time to sign a replacement instead of grabbing him for free next summer.

Because money doesn’t matter to them. If they wanted them players then they would go out and get them players, they don’t need to sell Mbappe to do that.
They are obviously a bit smarter than Madrid too because they know all they have to do is wait and they will get Pogba for free next summer.
Personally I think Madrid are trying to get him now because they aren’t confident they will be able to get him on a free in a years time. Their squad is in decline and there will be more attractive offers on the table for him next summer.

Plus PSG desperately want the CL so a year of Messi-Neymar-Mbappe gives them a greater chance at winning it than if they sold him.

As for Mbappe and Madrid, he has always said he wants to go there so i imagine that is where he will go by next summer. Despite Madrid's troubles, Mbappe seems to want to be "the man" wherever he ends up and by going to Madrid, despite their situation, he would be not just the face of the team but also of La Liga for the next decade now that Messi is gone.

I’d bankrupt this bloody club just to acquire his services. Never mind if we do not have any future including relegation after that. We’ll jack up ticket prices to undo all that financial mess.

You can keep the wages down by offering a signing bonus instead. Just like what happened with Milner and Matip

I agree. FSG handles LFC like a merchant handles his business. It's all about profit > costs. Qatar & Dubai handle their clubs like premium escorts or premium cars. It's all about showboating and bragging. For us fans it's a choice between a rock and a hard place.

It’s stupid how some teams can basically have their own set of rules.

But never mind the financial issues going on at Madrid, how stupid do you have to be to be paying that kind of money when you can get the player for half of that in January or for nothing in a years time?! It’s madness.

Madrid are heading the way of Barca, they think signing Mbappe for however much money will fix all of their problems like Barca thought with Coutinho and Griezemann, when in actual fact the entire squad needs a revamp. It won’t be long before they are just as bad as Barca. Unless you are City, Chelsea or PSG a team can’t pay out that kind of money unless it’s funded by similar (e.g a Coutinho sale that led to us spending the equivalent on Alisson and Virgil) and not suffer the consequences later on.

If PSG accept it or not is another matter but if they don’t then it’s not like it matters, that’s pocket change to them.

State backed, they'll never go the way of Barca, Spanish Govt won't allow it.

What a pointless thread. We were never in for him. There's not one solid link. This thread was created purely on hope 😂. Time to get more realistic with the type of owners we have. These sigings will never happen unless we sell someone to fund it. That's self sufficiency right there or others call it sell to buy.

I've been consistent in my opninion, from day one, that we'll never sign him and he's out of our price bracket. Fsg fan boys have been talking up this signing like it had a chance of happening. So yeah, I've been giving my correct opinion from page one.

Have they? Surely 'FSG fanboys' would know more than most that we simply can't sign players such as Mbappe under the current structure we work in?

Don't really think anyone talked this one up.
