Blimey some need some happy pills

Mbappe will only go to one club - Madrid

No one in the Prem can afford his wages

But if there is one club I think he would want to play for it would be us.

Tune. Though give me the untarnished George Martin produced single (with alternative George Harrison solo) over the Phil Spector bastardry.

      Spot on mate.

On another note, I'd have like to see us sign a creative midfielder. Too many times last year we were running out of ideas. A goal getting midfielder someone who's not afraid to run in to the oppositions box and is a ball carrier
Wijnaldum and Keita both excelled at playing as attacking midfielders and had good goal recoards before joining Liverpool. The CM role in Klopp's system now is more of a facilitator role rather than about bursting into the box like No.10's of old like Gerrard and Lampard used to do.

Completely agree but we lack the ability to score from outside the box at the moment, bar Mo. Fab, Ox and Curtis are the only midfielders with a proven decent shot on them and none of them even reach 5 goals a season.

The club emphasizes analytics a lot so  it seems logical that they'd incorporate that data into tactics by seeking to maximize high-percentage chances rather than settling for low-percentage chances like speculative long range efforts.

Accordingly, Klopp's system isn't designed to create long range shooting opportunities, as those are low percentage chances. Rather, it seeks to create scoring chances with higher xG rates, even if it means recycling possession to find better opportunities when long range shots are on. Needless to say it's not really a surprise that our midfielders didn't get a tonne of goals - especially from long range shots.

One only needs to look at Wijnaldum's scoring record with Holland to see that his lack of goals wasn't down to lack of finishing ability. Rather, it was simply a case of him being deployed in an attacking role as a no.10 with Holland, whereas he had a far more conservative role in midfield with Liverpool where he's expected to shield the fullbacks a lot more than he does with Holland.

Let’s have a dose of reality here, we (FSG) were never going to pay the kind of money being talked about for a player in the final 12 months of a contract - doesn’t fit the ‘moneyball’ template FSG have. Anyone thinking otherwise is either deluded or playing Football Manager / FIFA…….

It’s stupid how some teams can basically have their own set of rules.

But never mind the financial issues going on at Madrid, how stupid do you have to be to be paying that kind of money when you can get the player for half of that in January or for nothing in a years time?! It’s madness.

Madrid are heading the way of Barca, they think signing Mbappe for however much money will fix all of their problems like Barca thought with Coutinho and Griezemann, when in actual fact the entire squad needs a revamp. It won’t be long before they are just as bad as Barca. Unless you are City, Chelsea or PSG a team can’t pay out that kind of money unless it’s funded by similar (e.g a Coutinho sale that led to us spending the equivalent on Alisson and Virgil) and not suffer the consequences later on.

If PSG accept it or not is another matter but if they don’t then it’s not like it matters, that’s pocket change to them.

We couldn't pay that lump sum - unless we did some kind of swap deal - like Mane/Salah going other way.
Don't see that happening now though, getting a bit late in the day.

Seems insane for Real Madrid to offer €160m for a player with just one year left on his contract, and even dumber for PSG to turn that sort of money down in their situation. If Mbappe is intent on going to RM they could just wait a year and get him for free.

How about this, Mbappe to Madrid, Ronaldo to PSG and everyone gets to see the two best to play together in Paris while we win the league and the Champions League.

160M might as well be 1.60 for PSG so it doesn’t matter to them, though.
