      Pre-Match: Norwich v Liverpool
      Aug 13, 2021 02:46:06 pm
Only 1 day away from the new season, and we don't have a pre-match thread.  Mods, feel free to adjust the title as I really don't know the appropraite format.  Also, I think maybe the countdown ticker is off by about 2.5 hours.

It's time to put our differences of opion aside and get behind the team.  I'm F***ing buzzing for this one, and expect us to come out firing on all cylinders.  I think the low key preseason will have benefitted us, and players like Mane, Bobby, Ox, Naby etc appear to be recharged and ready to go.  There are only a couple of questions over the lineup going into tomorrow.

      - Who will partner VVD?
      - Will Klopp go with Tsimi at LB, or will he put Mr Reliable (James Milner) out there?
      - Will Jota replace Bobby in the front 3?  Or will Klopp go for a 4-2-3-1 with all 4 of Mane - Bobby - Salah - Jota in the team?

For me, I would go with:

      Ali
      TAA - Matip - VVD - Tsimi
      Fab
      Hendo - Thiago
      Salah - Bobby - Mane

Bring on Jota and Ox around the 60 minute mark.  I feel these 2 are going to have breakout seasons this year.

      3-0 to the mighty Reds!!

Will be interesting to see what the CB pairing is.
TAA and Tsimikas will do doubt start.

At a christening tomorrow so will no doubt miss the most of it.

Though I'm clinging onto the hope it'll be shown somewhere nearby so I can slip off to watch it.

So Good to have the pre-match thread back.....I'm going with thus....

                                     Alisson
                       Trent   Matip Konate  Kostas
                                       Fabinho
                          Thiago                  Keita
                          Salah   Firmino    Mane

Too early for the big fella, don't think Jürgen will risk it yet, same for Joe, he'll want to hit the ground running so for me he'll go with as much experience as possible,  so I don't think he'll start Harvey either,
Kostas in for Robbo for obvious reasons and Naby has to perform simple as, or Curtis is waiting in the wings, Ox will have to be patient but like Harvey he can offer a potent impact from the bench,  the three amigo's need no explanation except that Jota is sure to replace one of them at One point, probably Bobby,

Anyhoo I'm loving how most pundits have written us off already,  one thinks we'll be battling Leicester for 4th 🤣🤣🤣🤣, tw*t,

Can see us getting off to the perfect start but it won't be easy by any stretch against Canaries,

      1-2 Mighty Redmen

I'd love to see Elliot and Jones involved more this season - the departure of Wijaldum does create a natural gap in midfield and an opportunity for them to step up and become first-team regulars. I know Jones is out tomorrow but I'd love to see Elliot start - he has an energy about him that I think the front three would really feed off.

Think Matips had a good preseason, but might be bit early for VVD/Joe, I'd go Konate who's impressed.
Don't think Hendo/Thiago ready, far as I know. So Fabinho and Milner to give the solid base and Naby to press on. Think Jones not avail either.
Jota has looked sharp, with the usuals on either side.
Unfortunate Robbo can't start but hopefully Tsimakas can do a job.

Can't wait for this, the family are out, have the beer in for this one :)
The 5-4 game just popped up on my feed so watched it again, never gets old, Jürgen and the glasses.

New season, hoping we can pull in 3 points here...

OMG I'm absolutely buzzing for this tomorrow teatime, cannot bloody wait, the season opener is always a special and this one will be no different.

Always exciting to see the team that Jürgen chooses and so important to get off to a good start, so obviously I'm going for a reds win to kick off the 2021-22 season.

Come on you mighty reds  :kop5cf8koxp6: :scarf: :kop5cf8koxp6: :scarf:

We're not quite 100% for this with defenders in early stages of recovery. I'm not going to read too much into how this game ends up but I am relatively confident for the season.

I don't see us 8th with 7/8 games to go again. Good luck to the lads and the fans getting back in stadiums. It's been grim without them.

Can’t have asked for a better start, we need to take advantage and keep the pressure on City and Chelski to keep up.

I think sometimes a couple of things are overlooked.

We know how to win a title. 2 seasons before last we came close to 100 points - that's what defines us, not last seasons horror show.

Our main players are all in their prime, they are canny and they know how to win games in the Prem.

      We have vast experience.
2 CL finals, winning one, a PL title, World title.
Same squad, in their prime, but more experienced.

If we hit our stride, we'll take some keeping up with.

Exactly how I see it , the key is getting a flying start , and just build on the momentum, the fans back the team winning , remember pep bringing the all conquering city to anfield , first time I’ve seen him set up a team to just defend , that’s what the fans and anfield gives us
COYR Title contenders for sure .

I am always a bit worried about opening the season away to a newly promoted side and we seen what happen this evening with Brentford so I expect Norwich to come out hard with lots of energy so it would be nice if we score early take sting out of the game.

Just looking forward to have football on the TV on the weekend and especially with crowds back in the stands.

Getting up at 7 am and driving 2 hours to the nearest LFC pub to watch. Will get there around 10 and so my buddy can watch the Everton game. Hopefully they get smashed and we win so that his day is dreadful.

Anyways. 2-0 win the UNEARABLEs. Need to start our title defense out strong 😉

Tricky game to start. To be honest, I don't expect us to keep a clean sheet but we should be able to outscore them (can we bring Suarez back for this one game?).

      I'd go with:
      Ali
      TAA - Matip - Konaté - Tsimikas
Milly (or Thiago) - Fabinho - Keita
      Salah - Jota - Mané

Gone for a 2-0 reds win in the prediction league but don’t care just as long as it’s a big W tonight. COME ON! ⚽️

I think that is the team we will see mate. He might surprise us and play Virg but caution would be wise and it's a long season ahead. I also think Jota will get the start ahead of Bobby as he has more minutes under his belt and has looked sharp in pre-season
