 Virgil van Dijk starts for Liverpool in today’s Premier League opener against Norwich City at Carrow Road.

The centre-back is named in the Reds’ starting XI for a competitive game for the first time since last October after returning to full fitness following knee surgery.

Elsewhere, Kostas Tsimikas replaces the injured Andy Robertson at left-back, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gets the nod in midfield.

Joe Gomez and summer signing Ibrahima Konate are among the substitutes.

I got the midfield three right, but wasn't expecting Virgil quite yet.

VVD returns !! with Joel. Good luck to both of them, particularly VVD, big day for him. Plenty of height to defend set pieces and a threat at the other end too. If I was Norwich would probably target Kostas side.
Really attacking with the 3 up front, with AOC and Keita too. Won't be holding back

Yes, just deliberately adding unnecessary pressure and ridiculous expectations. Even Rafa is winning 3-1. We must outdo everybody else.

Strong line up. Feel we probably should’ve gone with Konate and one of the returning CB’s but they’ve all looked like they are coming along nicely with their comebacks so far.

The attack was anyone’s guess too, regarding Jota and Bobby, both looked good last time out.

Keen to see Elliott get a good run out today, could be a big season for him.

It should be a comfortable win for us but you never know, they will be more than up for it in front of their owns fans and will look to test Virgil and Matip.

I’ll be the first to bash the team if we score a lucky deflection and scrape a 1-0 win. I have to be very hard on our performance. It will be hard to keep me happy this season. Looks like I’m never gonna enjoy our season ahead… wish me luck!

Not the world class midfield we would have hoped for in an opening game but, even without home advantage, should be enough in that Liverpool team to get all the points.
