      Pre-Match: Liverpool v Chelsea 28th August 2021 KO 17.30

First big test of this new season as we entertain Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday evening, looking forward to seeing who Jürgen plays after playing and winning the last two games.

Second plays third but both teams have exactly the same amount of points, should be an excellent attacking game, looking forward to it, I'm going for a tight 2-1 victory for the men in RED with Mo and Mane getting the goals.

I watched the Chavs destroy Arsenal, and there were 2 things that stuck out to me.

      1.  The wide forwards (Mount and Havertz) drop deep and central to overload the middle.  This movement was dragging Arsenal's fullback into very narrow positions, and Chelsea exploited the space on the flank particularly with Reece James.  Jürgen will need to have a better plan to deal with this -- ideally with CM's picking up the wide forwards and our fullback staying home to prevent the overlap.

      2.  Their ability to transition the ball from their back 3 into the front 3 so often flows through Jorginho.  If we can mark him out of the game, they will struggle to find their rhythm.  I would play Bobby and have him shadow Jorgihno when we don't have the ball.  Have Mo and Sadio sit on the shoulders of the wide CB's and set traps for when they play the ball out to the wide players.

I feel extremely confident that we will take all 3 points here.  I just expect Jurgwn to nail the setup and tactics and the boys will do the rest.

      2-0 to the Reds!!

Last season we won this fixture with relative ease from what I remember. Think Fab was alongside Virgil and they bossed it, before Thiago came on at the break and bossed the 2nd half.

So far in the games we’ve had Van Dijk against Lukaku, our man has had Lukaku in his pocket so hopefully that will continue.

Don’t think it’s going to be as easy this time. Massive chance to keep ahead of the rest at the expense of the Chavs. This game won’t define our season but if we can get the win it will be a brilliant start.

Get the Win Boys. Gonna be tough but we can do this.

Get the win like 7KK7 said and could have a nice little phsycological advantage over The Chavs at the same time.

I think Thiago will be more effective coming on the second half when the game opens up more.

With this being so early in the season I personally wouldn't be rushing Robbo back in, especially considering how well Tsimikas has done

:gt-happyup: and I am confident, Jürgen agrees. Jürgen always stated (and backed it up by deeds) that he likes rhythm and continuity. This team has played two serious games and did well overall.

The Chavs are very good, so a draw would not mean the end of the world. I think Klopp will play accordingly, more passive/lower, just like he does against City. I see a draw or a tight one 2-1/1-2. Hope we win, would be an huge boost for our PL quest.

Not sure Naby has done a lot wrong to be honest and Thiago probably more effective as game opens up . Either way would be happy competition  for places good

I agree that Naby should start ahead of Thiago. Keita has looked solid to start the season.

As a lesser point Keita also needs to get a run of games this season to prove himself a bit, and that he can be fit.

Big test for us. Would have preferred this a bit later into the season as some of our players still in early days of recovery.

Hope our fans raise the atmosphere a notch or three.

Pretty much the lineup I’d go with as well.

As for Kostas vs Robbo, in a recent interview Robbo said he had been training and felt was ready to go for Burnley but the experts decided against it. For Chelsea he would have had a full week of training so if he’s ready I think I’d prefer he be given the start.

As good as Kostas has been, he’s just not as good defensively as Robbo and Chelsea’s offense will be a whole different animal than Norwich and Burnley with their pace, movement and skill level.

Hopefully we will see a bit of the old VVD in this game a little early but going to be a test for him and his fitness.  Just by hook or crook get the 3 points and move on.  They play City in a few games after so don't really want to hammer their confidence.  3-0 will do ;D.  The head to head games will be key a long with good winning runs if can go into the break top of the table it will be brilliant.

I did see Kostas struggle defensively against Norwich a couple of times, but nothing worrying. It was his first serious PL game. Give the guy some slack. But against Burnley he already looked better defensively, I didn't see any blunder, did u? But let's talk about offense. There Kostas looked plain better than Robbo. His crosses and corners are shaped better and more consistent. And as an icing on the cake: why would you risk an aggrevation of Robbo's injury? Burnley is just one week away and experts decided he's not ready for that game. Sounds for me all Kostas. And if Kostas has a good game I can see him doing to Robbo what Robbo did to Moreno, as sad as it would make me feel for I believe Robbo is one of the few players that really has some feeling towards LFC, beyond just money.
