One thing we are forgetting is that most probably both Keita and Ox are going to be let go of. That's two 120k/week salaries off the books. If the logical thing happens and James Milner leaves or retire then thats another 140k/week off the books. That's 380k/week or about 20m/year in wages off the books all in the same summer (all those numbers are in British pounds and from Spotrac). Even after all of that I think it will be hard to go pay that fee for Bellingham, his wage, and then get another two quality or very promising midfielders even if we start them at lower wages.

All of this talk of midfielders also has us forgetting that our needs are not only in midfield. In theory, fixing our midfield would mean Elliott going back to being a RW, but at the current time we need a RW. We either start Salah or...we start Salah. Bobby's deal also expires this upcoming summer and would potentially leave us in need of another CF.

Joel's deal expires next year, but if he is back to his very injury prone self then decisions will also have to be made in that department because you suddenly go from having one of the most solid CB departments in the league to having VVD and Konate + an ever absent Matip and a very inconsistent Gomez. If Van Den Berg recovers from his injury and keeps playing the way he was pre injury then it will make things easier and I could see Matip contract not being renewed and Berg being his long term replacement, but if not then we'll potentially need to do something about it in the transfer market unless we want to repeat our mistakes in midfield (considering you need a lot less injury prone players in the CB department to recreate the mess we have in midfield at the moment).

We do have some very good young players in the academy that we could see coming through but can certainly see a forward arriving in the summer

Or United going by the Mirror today.

But if City are arsed they'll blow both of us away financially to get him.

Article looking also at other options to bring in alongside Bellingham

Couple of free signings - Lorimer , Tielemans

Plus some £20-30mil players -Szoboszlai , Musah ( no idea if any good )

Leaving plenty of spending for Bellingham

It also seems that the club are really connected to his camp , the players wants to come to us and also wants Gerrards 8 short

Don't think I have ever thought we've needed a player more than after watching a footballers YT compliation.

Obviously the question is can he do it in the prem, but he has all the attributes we need in our midfield right now, an engine, technique, hunger, pace, drive, vision, bite in a tackle.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMP3YzkyZt0

      Hope we do get him.

Have no doubt that he can do it in the Prem

He is the player that we wanted Keita to be and the closet player seen to Gerrard

He appears to be the perfect player for Klopp

He isn’t going to Madrid, and they can’t afford him anymore than we can. If he goes anywhere it will be City (if it’s for money) and if it’s not for money then he may very well end up with us.

Liverpool should go all in on this kid and bring in two free transfers for the other requirements.
Every now and then the team needs to roll the dice on a player to keep up the pace.

That an option I hadn't really thought of to be honest.

      I'd be happy with that

There are some great players coming up for free as well - Laimer and Tielemans would be two Greta additions

      Youri Tielemans
      Thomas Lemar
Konrad Laimer (Out injured with a ligament tear, so maybe not)

There is business to be done.

Alternatively you try and get Nkunku if Firmino is leaving.
But then Bellingham goes somewhere else.

Alternatively Kudus from Ajax and a couple of free transfers.
But if that happens there really is no money in the pot.

      Madrid can afford him.

They fuckers always seem to find a couple of hundred million when they need to purchase players.

Yup. They bid 200m for Mbappe the summer before last. They do have the money. Probably not the same bottomless pits of money that City, PSG and Newcastle have, but they have lots of money.
