Leeds United 0-3 Liverpool: In game and Post Match discussion
      Sep 12, 2021 03:30:45 pm

      Elland Road

Starting XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Thiago, Elliott; Salah, Jota, Mane.

Subs: Kelleher, Konate, Milner, Keita, Gomez, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Tsimikas.

Thiago Alcantara is named in the starting line-up for Liverpool’s trip to Leeds United this afternoon.

The Spain midfielder begins the Premier League fixture at Elland Road, replacing Jordan Henderson as the Reds make two changes to the team deployed against Chelsea last time out.

The other sees Diogo Jota return for Roberto Firmino, who is ruled out due to a hamstring injury.

Strong enough lineup to get 3 points here. Big trust in Elliott, kid is going to shine!

Big call to leave Hendo out of what will be one of the most intense games of the season! The trio playing should be well rested though.

No proper attacking option from the bench today so hope the three on the pitch are on it!

From what we might say is our strongest 11, I see Elliot as Hendos replacement. And Bobs not fit, so we have a more attacking side. Hope Jotta can help out defensively like Bob does, because as good as I think Elliot is, I also think he’s a bit lightweight in the defensive role.
      Only experience will bring that.
Fabinho is our only true defensive mid fielder today.
Hope our attacking keeps them on the Backfoot so fab doesn’t get overloaded.

Getting the shakes now, better get a glass of agricultural wine down me 😂

In a pinch, we can always bring Kelleher on and play Ali up front...   :f_tongueincheek:

Attacking line-up, I like Jota in the 9 shirt against Leeds because they like to push on and offer space in behind. A little surprised to see Henderson not in the line-up, it's certainly an attacking side.

Is Taki injured? surprised not to see him on the bench today. Elliott also plays RW (believe that's his natural position) so we have options to move things around if needed.

Just thinking about Mane. With what’s happened in Guinea, he may have his head full of worries. I think I might under the circumstances.
Hope he thinks the takeover was an improvement and warranted, he’ll be on fire then.

My guess is having been on international duty that Hendo and Keita are being rested for the Milan game.

Arguably our strongest line up. Can make a case for Hendo and Bobby being part of the strongest line up, but you can also make a case for them not to be as well. Plenty of options, the bench lacks a bit attacking wise but defensively there are some really good options there. That said though, Jones and Keita have the potential to bring the attacking threat from the bench. In fact the only thing really missing today is Bobby being on the bench.

Certainly an improvement on last season when there were some very questionable options on the bench, now the weakest option there is Milner and even he isn’t a bad shout to bring on if needed.

      Come on Reds!

If Origi can't even make the final 20 with injuries up top he must be stinking the place out in training needs shipping out in January.

Makes me wonder why we didn’t just terminate his contract or just let him go for whatever amount. He’s clearly not in any of the plans this season and by staying/being registered is literally preventing us from having signed an attacker to be having as an option on the bench.
It’s gotten to the point now where Origi is a waste of time, him staying doesn’t benefit him and it doesn’t benefit us. The only people it benefits is the opposition because it’s one less option we have to bring on.

Certainly the most talented English youngster for a long time.

Southgate will take notice eventually in a few years time...and start him on the bench against a San Marino and then play him at right back like the f**king idiot he is. Because he plays for Liverpool.

Spot on pretty sure we are trying to get shut but wages obviously playing a part . 2 years ago was the time to let go probably would of got decent money then and if I had anything about him you would think at his age he would want to play more

Not one striker on the bench.

There's your f**king "we don't need to strengthen up top" proof.

Fourth game in and no striker replacement.
