Incredible that 2 of Europes giants have only met twice in Europe, both champions league finals. 1 all on that count.

Dont watch Italian football anymore so ill leave the chat to you.

Have a sneaky feeling Konate might get his debut for some reason

                       Alisson
        Trent - Konate - Dijk - Robbo
                       Fabinho
                  Hendo - Thiago
               Salah - Jota - Mane

Difficult game to predict against AC Milan, but in front of a vociferous home crowd, a win for the Reds, by a couple of goals !

Wouldn't be a surprise to see Matip alonsgide Virgil in this game but at the same time, it could be a chance to start getting some game time for Gomez or Konate. I'm less certain about the Matip & Virgil pairing than if it was a league game. With games now coming up every 3 days or so, Matip may not be able to handle it with his track record so we'll see.

The rest of the team pretty much picks itself, just Hendo coming in for Elliott, other than that I don't anticipate there being any other changes. Fab and Thiago look like they could forge a boss pairing so it would be good to get that partnership built up.

In terms of Milan, the only player that really concerns me is Kessie, he looks a damn good player. The rest of their team, there's nothing that really stands out IMO; they don't particuarly have much pace to worry about, they aren't the strongest physically and whilst they have aerial threats in Giroud and Ibra, I feel they are 2 players we should have a handle on. They are also significantly weaker now they don't have Donnarumma. I don't think it's going to be a walk in the park but theoretically I would say this is a much more comfortable opponent than Atletico. In fact, this game reminds me of when we played Bayern a few years ago; it seemed like a harder game than it actually is because of who the club is, but at the time Bayern were an aging team and were far from the level they were playing at the following year.

      NB: Team no longer available

I would rotate a little. Would rest Matip, Robertson, Fabinho and Jota.

Every time I see Traoré's name, I can't help but laugh... We won the CL against what is arguably one of the best starting 11 of all time with Djimi Traoré...  :lmao:

Cant see Matip starting, they will want to protect him. In fact Klopp may change both CB's.

But who knows, its a big game, he may go with your lineup and rotate at the weekend.

What a match this will be!!!  So excited for this one!!!

Milan not the force they were 10+ years ago, but still a decent side.  I think we'll edge it.  Going for a 2-1 win for the Reds!!

Thats gotta be a plus. Beast of a player in his heyday, ageing now but still a threat.
Giroud decent as well. Especially in the air.

Still think we’re winning this though.  3:1 the red men.

According to my colleague who is a Milan fan, it's not such a bad thing for them because they are less predictable without him. I'm not sure whether he really believes it, or is just trying to convince himself though.

AC Milan, a club with a fantastic history both domestically and in Europe have never play at Anfield on a European night in front of our intimidating and brilliant support, they are in for a rude awakening, a experience I believe most of their players are unlikely to have gone through too many times, it is believed that even the much travelled Lionel Messi has nightmares still of the demolition handed to him and his wee Barca mates on a similar night not too far back in our recent past,

AC Milan are nowhere near as good as that Barcelona X1 and face a Liverpool side absolutely fearless of any side in the CL, I bet we will be far superior to them and I envisage quite a easy ride, I don’t expect there’ll be too many changes, maybe Gomez coming in for Matip, just to ease the burden on Joel, Hendo in for the unfortunate Harvey, and we might see Naby coming in too but, since Harvey obviously being out we will need creativity so I think Thiago will keep his place,

Same front three up top in Salah, Jota & Mane, tbh, I don’t know too much about this latest edition of Milan side but I truly believe we are so much better than what they can offer at their optimum, the level they play at domestically fall way short of what is the EPL, the speed the intensity we possess I doubt they can handle too well, I’d imagine though that their tactics will be putting 10 behind the ball and parking their bus !

Milan are not the force they once were, but they will be tough in the away game, and this is a pretty tough group, so that makes this game an important one to win. Would be very surprised if Jürgen changes his CB pairing going into an important CL game. So I think Hendo will come in to midfield and maybe Thiago will be replaced to get more fresh legs in there. But other than that I expect the same team as the weekend.

I don't really understand the point of this.  Now there will be a HUGE advantage for any side at home in the 2nd leg as they get to play 30 extra minutes AND have pens in front of their home crowd (if extra time is needed).  The former away goals rule at least helped balance some of this out by providing an option for away sides to grab a critical away goal in ET.

Yeah another problem that didn't need fixing. Was anybody complaining about the away goals rule?

Strongest team please to grab all points and then rotate for the weekend. We should be able to handle Palace with a few subs.
