Liverpool 3-0 Crystal Palace: In game and Post Match discussion
      Sep 18, 2021 02:01:04 pm

Liverpool and Anfield hosting the Palace

Starting XI: Alisson, Milner, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas, Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago, Mane, Salah, Jota.

Subs: Kelleher, Keita, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Minamino, Robertson, Origi, Phillips.

Ibrahima Konate makes his competitive debut for Liverpool in today’s Premier League clash with Crystal Place.

The summer signing from RB Leipzig is named in the starting line-up at Anfield as the Reds make six changes from the midweek victory over AC Milan.

Elsewhere, Virgil van Dijk, Kostas Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane return, with Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson, Naby Keita and Divock Origi dropping to the bench.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is ruled out due to illness, unrelated to coronavirus, so James Milner comes into defence.

Shows the good depth of our team. Enough quality to manhandle CP. I like Kostas gettin' another opportunity. Bring 'em on!

Wow, didn't see that back 4 coming :) apart from VVD.
Was impressed with Konate in preseason, but this is his first real test. Not a bad partner in VVD.
TAA sick, Milly likely won't give as much going forward, but hopefully as solid in defense.
Kostas has done well when brought in before too.
Not having played together might make keeping the line a bit trickier, but again, VVD should marshall.

Plus they have our best midfield trio in front of them.

      CMON BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Neither is Matip.

Also, is Neco Williams out on loan? Looks like Milner at right back today.

Love the pic of the people eating outside the bakery. I would love to see more photos of the Anfield neighborhood on matchday. As great as my memories from inside the stadium are, the times just walking around the area before matches are some of the keenest from my trips over (which keep getting farther away).

Well I got the midfield I wanted of Henderson, Fab and Thiago. Looking forward to how they do, but their fullbacks will be Millie and Tsimikas, I guess due to standard rotation. Also a debut for Konate, teamed with Virgil.

      Let's keep it going everyone!

Far too much change in the defence for my liking. With Trent out I’d have much rather seen Robbo keep his place. Milner hasn’t been looking sharp in the games he’s played this season and struggled massively vs Palace at RB in the past, think he’s in for a tough afternoon against Zaha.

No Edoard for Palace. Thought he was all the rage.

Benteke though... I remember when match comms during Jürgen's first year (and some on here) would hammer Jürgen for not using Benteke more. They were so accurate.

I'm dreading this one. Zaha's explosive and Milners looked bad this year.

Well, don't strengthen and this is what you get. One decent right back at the club.

Come on boys!!! Let's do it, against all the constraints placed on you by the powers that be.

Off optic (and topic), but just saw a pic of the statue of Vincent Kompany outside City's stadium. It looks like he has leprosy or something. Just awful.

Can genuinely see Milner giving away a penalty today, seems to completely time his tackles wrong and Zaha looks to hit the deck with the slightest touch.

Hope I’m wrong and we smash them 7-0 again now I’ve said all this but the 3 points is the main thing. A comfortable win would be great but would take a scrappy win just as happily.

Jürgen says rotation of center backs was planned, same with Robbo on the bench today for all the games he's played between us and Scotland.

Trent's illness is NOT CoVid, he confirms. He was sent home.

I asked before, but is Neco Williams just not rated as 2nd choice right back, or is he injured or on loan?

Without Trent we need creativity through the middle, so hope Thiago has a good game.

Enjoy the match everyone. BE POSITIVE.

AS 7KK7 says, probably will be a bit of a streetfight. They are big, but we can still beat them with good football. Let's hope we do.

      See you afterward.
