Ox needs to get better, for himself and the team. I really hope he does.

Brilliant for the ox to get 90mins. When was last time he played 90 ?

He played 84 minutes against Bournemouth on March 7th, 2020 and had a couple of other games where he played around 85 minutes earlier in the 19/20 season. The last time he played the full 90 minutes to the final whistle was against Monterrey in the Club World Cup, December 18th, 2019. So it's almost been 2 years since he played a full 90, until today.

Fwiw his list of appearances from the 2020/21 season (linked below) is really grim reading from a fitness perspective. Only 286 minutes played in total across all competitions. Only twice did he play more than 30 minutes in a game, playing 57 mins twice.

Showing that he can play 90 minutes is a good start to recovering his best form, but realistically if he's to earn more playing time he needs to be far better than he was today. He probably knows that too judging by how hard he seems to be trying to make something happen, but he's doing it to his own detriment. Every time he gets the ball he runs at 1000 miles per hour without thinking and things don't go well for him. Hopefully he can score a goal or something to give him some confidence so he can play a bit more relaxed.

So in the draw for the next round, along with Liverpool:

      Man City
      Burnley
      Leeds
      Southampton
      Brentford
      Preston
      QPR
      Stoke
      Sunderland
      Brighton / Swansea
      Arsenal / Wimbledon
      Chelsea / Villa
      Man Utd / West Ham
      Millwall / Leicester
      Wolves / Spurs

21 possible outcomes, 7 of which are non-PL.

It would be great if we could draw a non-PL side at home for once.

Nice win, some "fringe" players played well it looks like and some that aren't fringe playing like they are?

Either way, glad we got the convincing win. That's all that matters.

On the assumption that the lowest ranked team left in round 4 will play Manchester City, who would we like next?

I wouldn’t mind Preston at home. Give more kids and squad players game time...

You already know we're getting Chelsea away.

Either way, glad we got the convincing win. That's all that matters.

Klopp afterward on the change at halftime and improved play in 2nd half:

"Half-time we had to change and Naby had kicked the grass, a little… sort of thing, we are not too concerned but we had to change. Then, we had Curtis in the half-space and Tyler in the six and it looked much [more] natural immediately so then the boys passed quicker, passed smarter and we changed Oxlade, a little bit higher on the pitch on the left wing, and Taki, who is obviously in really good shape, more in the centre and half-spaces so Ox could use his speed and Taki connected the game together with Tyler and Curtis. So, it was all good, we scored the second and third goals and controlled the game, which was absolutely brilliant. The kids did exceptionally well, I have to say. All three, physically really strong and that’s maybe the biggest surprise, that they could go 92 minutes. I am really happy for them, it was a big moment for the boys."

Good result and excellent display from all the players especially the young ones, What player Morton would be in the future? Happy to see Minamino played well and scored two good goals, the best player was Tsimikas pinpoint assist crossings, good all-around defender, and attacking wise he is ahead of Robbo in footballing aspects.

We basically have a 7/18 chance of drawing a non-PL team as things stand.

Hopefully some PL teams lose tonight to improve those odds further. Would be great to get a good home draw so we can see the likes of Gordon, Bradley, and Morton again.

Yeah that Morton lad looks the business. I had a look at his highlight videos on YT and there's also more to his game than what he showed in the DM position against Norwich. He showed that he can pick a pass with great range and speed on the pass, and also make hard tackles and position himself well. In his highlight videos it's evident that he's got some tidy dribbling and shooting skills too.

It's been a while since we had an all-round box-to-box midfield prospect like this who can do a bit of everything at a high level. Dare I say he reminds me a bit of Gerrard stylistically, though there's obviously a very long way to go; the evidence so far is extremely promising though.

Apparently Keita went off due to a slight injury from kicking the ground. Couldn’t make it up.

      Hmmm nothing unusual there then

Definitely, and generally the longer we can stay in this cup the better for the squad, and the better for league & champions league.

Of that 7/18, are you including the lowest ranked team that will inevitably end up being the opponents for City?

Routine win at Norwich. Highlight of the night was the penalty save. It's Kelleher's second penalty save for us, which I think is as many as Allison has made in 3 years. If he doesn't play at Watford next month, he should get to play the next round next month.

Someone else who doesn't get his game is Tsimikas, but he's now gone from a back up to a quality back up. Sadly, Ox has gone in the opposite direction. You know the talent is there, but it just doesn't happen now. But Naby is back in the treatment room. Some things never change.

There are 22 teams left in the competition (including Liverpool), so 21 possible opponents we can draw.

      Man City
      Burnley
      Leeds
      Southampton
      Brentford
      Preston
      QPR
      Stoke
      Sunderland

      Brighton / Swansea
      Arsenal / Wimbledon
      Chelsea / Villa
      Man Utd / West Ham
      Millwall / Leicester
      Wolves / Spurs

Of the 21 teams still in the competition, 7 of them are non-PL teams: Preston, QPR, Stoke, and Sunderland are already through, plus Swansea, Wimbledon, and Millwall needing to win.

The best case scenario would be for 7 of the 15 teams in the draw to be non-PL (if all three of Swansea, Wimbledon, and Millwall win). That would give us a 46.7% chance of drawing a non-PL team, and 23.3% of a non/PL team at home.

Worst case scenario would be for only 4 of the 15 teams in the draw to be non-PL (if all three of Swansea, Wimbledon, and Millwall lose). That would give us a 26.7% chance of drawing a non-PL team, and 13.3% chance of drawing a non-PL team at home.

So regardless of results our chance of drawing a non-PL team will be somewhere between 26.7% and 46.7%. And chances of a home tie against a non-PL team will be between 13.3% and 23.3%.

Given these odds we should be pretty pleased with simply avoiding the top clubs (United, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Leicester, Arsenal). We'd have to be really lucky to draw a non-PL side, especially at home.

The Keita sub seems to have been pre-planned to some extent. Saying that he kicked the grass is an easy out for Klopp instead of explaining that he took Keita off to keep him fresh for the weekend which is a more important fixture. Klopp even said it wasn't anything serious so nothing to worry about.
