Pre-Match: Brentford vs Liverpool [Sat 25th of September 5:30pm]
      Sep 22, 2021 03:38:12 am
With our first choice players rested we should be able to run out the following:

      Alisson
      Trent, Matip, Virgil, Robbo
      Fab, Hendo, Curtis
      Mo, Jota, Sadio (sorry Brez!)

Only choices here I wonder somewhat about are:

      1. Diogo Jota who was really of it last match (and somewhat the match before). Bobby has returned to team training this week and maybe Jürgen returns him to the first XI, but I think it's more likely he starts this one on the bench.
      2. James Milner could start rather than Curtis Jones, but I hope not.

Keita and Thiago are out injured.

Brentford have started fairly well at two wins, two draws from five matches.  Let's start off on the front foot.

Yep, looks like the most likely X1, I’d be be happy fielding that side, I’m looking  forward to this match, Brentford are a exciting outfit playing without fear, and it’s great to see, Thomas Frank is a very good manager and his players clearly enjoy playing for him, but this is a massive test for them, and dare I say the biggest scalp probably they would love to take in their short prem history, however, we are miles ahead of them for quality and experience, so I expect them to come at us with plenty of gusto but once the game settles I can see us dominating and will win comfortably.

Id keep Taki in, 2 goals will have him buzzing, give him the nod see how he goes.

Place on my bench for Morton to after last night. If Trent doesnt make Joe at right back

Keita hasn't been ruled out has he? Last I saw Klopp said he had to be taken off yesterday because he kicked the ground but its nothing really.

      Alisson
      Trent, Konate, Virgil, Robbo
      Hendo, Fab, Keita/Jones
      Salah, Jota, Mane

All season the CB options have been anyone's guess and now we can add LB to that scenario too. Robbo is the better of the two players but Kostas has made a better start to the season and his confidence is growing. I thought Robbo was certain to start this game but then Kostas got taken off in the 2nd half vs Norwich so literally have no clue.

Don't think it's going to be an easy game, they've made a good start to the season and have nothing to lose so would expect them to cause us a few problems.

Thiago aint making this game. Hopefully trent & Milner have got over the colds or whatever they had.

Didnt sound like naby lad injury was too bad, he will probably start.

You'll have to forgive me for assuming the worst about Naby's  availability. Hopefully you are correct.

Agree that left back could get interesting as we move forward.

Not too many problems I hope. I’ve gone for 4-0 to us in the predictions 😊

Maybe that new sports scientist from Bayern Munich has cloned him. Would be like a new signing, Havent thought about that, have you!?!

If everyone's healthy 10 of 11 names pick themselves.

The only spot that's really open for debate is the No.8 spot next to Henderson. Jones played 90 against Norwich which probably rules him out to start. Keita came off after 45 which suggests he was being saved for the weekend and should start. Milner was rested too but that seems to have been precautionary to guard against Trent possibly not being able to feature again at RB.

I'd expect to see this lineup, which is essentially our strongest team:

                       Allison

      Trent   Matip   Van Dijk  Robertson

                      Fabinho

               Henderson  Keita

      Salah          Jota          Mane

Bench: Kelleher, Konate, Gomez, Tsimikas, Milner, Jones, Ox, Firmino, Minamino

      Injured: Neco, Thiago, Elliott
Not in squad: Bradley, Morton, Gordon, Origi

One would think that the lineup for Porto in midweek would then be something like the lineup below. Depending on how strong Klopp wants to go against Porto perhaps he'll rotate one or two players in the Brentford game, but whatever the case I'd expect the Brentford lineup to be close to our Best XI, and the lineup against Porto to be the one that features more rotation. We're in a good position in the CL group and have City on the horizon after all, so it makes sense to have that approach.

                        Allison

      ??      Konate     Gomez     Tsimikas

                           ??

                    ??          Jones

      Salah          Firmino           Origi

Big game this as it kicks off a run of 6 fixtures where 5 are away from anfield.
And the one game at anfield is against Manchester City.
The away games are porto, Watford, athletico Madrid and Manchester United.

I think the way Brentford play could play into our hands.
As long as we match them for effort the rest should take care of itself.
      1-2 win.

Minamino's performance was good, but it hasn't launched him ahead of two of Mane, Salah, Jota, and Firmino for a start in the PL or CL. Nor is he going to be a regular midfielder ahead of our regular midfielders.

What he's probably earned in Klopp's eyes is the opportunity for a cameo off the bench at some point, perhaps in Porto depending on how things are going. That said, Klopp will likely want to get Firmino back to match sharpness ahead of the City game so he'll likely be the first name Klopp considers as a sub in the next couple of games.

If the front 4 are healthy for a while it could possibly take until the Preston game for Minamino to get his next start, as fixtures until then are really tough (Brentford A, Porto A, City H, Watford A, Atletico A, United A).

I’d be surprised if Bobby gets on the pitch against Brentford I think it’s too soon maybe 30mins against Porto.

Actually can see taki and divock starting at Porto, maybe subbed on 60mins if needed, or even a planned 45mins sub, seen as can use 5 subs in Europe.

Depends on fitness and niggles. And training before the game. Could actually use all 6 forwards in 1 game given the 5 sub rule now. ;D
