Just once can we park the bus, play ugly football and see out a lead?

Like in the champions league final ?

They tore Chelsea apart today, I can’t see us beating them

That’s why today was so important to get the win, we essentially had a free hit to still be level/ahead on GD if they were to beat us. Come that City game, we could potentially be down around 6th/7th before kick off.

Was just a complete clusterfuck. You expect to potentially drop points against the bigger teams, not against a newly promoted team when you’ve twice had the lead.

Big chance to open a gap just tossed away in a sea of mediocrity.

First time our defence has been put under a little 'English style' old fashioned pressure today and they couldn't handle it. They were clueless.

Mo ... what can you say. He needs to be a killer ... not a f**king showboater when the game is at stake. He is as much to blame if not more than the defence for us p*ssing 2 points away there.

Well played by Brentford. They deserved more than 1 point if I'm honest.

As for these people shouting about being unbeaten... only for another week playing like that because city will ruin us if we defend like that and are as wasteful at the other end.

The most ragged we’ve looked defensively since the 8-2.

      Fair result. Decent enough side.

Clear by a point, could have been three, could have been none.

I like them, credit to them, but f**k me we need to ask questions on our defending tonight, whatever spin you want to put on it.

Long term I hope they keep doing that to others

      People looking for scapegoats.

No scapegoats. It was a poor team performance all round. Neither virgil or matip played well today and they both looked nervous. Did you or tadders feel comfortable during that game that both our centre halves were in command? Because I certainly didn’t. The whole back line was a mess.

Hopefully a one off in terms of the defensive set up. Collectively we were all over the place. Attacking wise we look as good as we have for ages. Credit to Brentford,  hopefully better on Tuesday

We have fans on here that if you don’t win every single game think the world is going to end. You draw games away from home people and if your not at your best it’s ok.

We'll probably play our best against City. Today is the classic 'underestimate the opposition' and mess around.

Thought our midfield of Fabinho, Jones , Henderson looked poor ,as if they didn't know each other ! We never had control of the midfield throughout the game ,yes Thiago is out with a minor calf injury and Keita stubbed his toe on a grass sod 😂 Milner would have put some bite on this game

That was some game, very open, one of those that you're always feeling like the other team could nick one, as much as we could.
Defensively, in theory we should have the CBs to deal with that kind of direct football, but VVD and Matip struggled. FBs didn't have their best games either with their deliveries. And think TAA might need to lay off the free kick duty for a bit, thats a few over recent matches he hasn't come close with.
Few times they overloaded TAA on his side/post with crosses, not sure why we didn't try to deal with that a bit better.
Midfield thought we did OK, and Jones was my MOTM - no idea why he was taken off. Goal was deflected, but he had the balls to have a go and hit it well.
Up front, wasteful again and cost us a couple of points this time. Salah and Jota should maybe have had more. Mane again not great. I'd have taken him or Jota off instead of taking off Jones.
In saying all that, Brentford we really good, big strong lads, but they can play a bit too.

Disappointing not to get all 3 points, but at least we got the 1

It’s pretty dumb really. They expect perfection like these are programmed machines and if there’s a blip then the world as we know it will end.

It’s “depressing” that we could be 1 point out of first place on Monday if Brighton wins.

A different midfield wouldn’t have fixed the chaos in the back 4. All of them had really poor games. Fabinho also fell asleep at the far post on what should have been an easy clear. Just a nightmare of a game defensively but it’s just a bad day for this team which is one of the best in the world.

Right now, the last thing I want to do is think about City. They’ll be licking their lips having watched that. 9 goals in 3 games they’ve put past us. Dreading it right now

Including the game where Hendo and Fab played center back and also the title hangover game.

I'm not dreading it. Looking forward to it actually. We can win,

The defence was partly a shambles because the midfield wasn't picking up the second balls and stopping the attack, the same at the other end, I've never seen so many long balls played up to short players & no midfield to pick up the pieces when the defender heads it away
Our conversion rate for goals is poor, love mo, mane , Jota & Bobby but what I'd give for a natural goal scorer !
Imagine if Mo was ruthless in front of goal the numbers would be unreal

I don’t think its as straightforward as that. For me, I know we won’t win every game but I have no issue with that so long as the performance is there and you drop points giving it your all. Performances like today are pathetic, time and time again they were catching us out the same way and we weren’t learning from it. Then we have strikers pissing around with the ball instead of shooting.

You can’t fault the opposition when they have as much desire as Brentford but to twice take the lead and concede such sloppy goals isn’t acceptable.

And what you saw today was any better than that? What I saw today was worse than what you’ve listed above it wasn’t even against City thank god.
