but its decision to withdraw follows the failure of the Liverpool board to accept the offer last night, following a rival bid by American billionaire George Gillett. His bid is understood to be worth Ā£8m more to Liverpool chairman David Moores.

      https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/live4liverpool.com/2010/05/view-from-the-kop/why-a-dic-takeover-would-have-spelt-even-greater-disaster-for-liverpool/amp/

      ā€œ
Several things happened (or didnā€™t happen) that gave cause for concern. Our being made aware that DIC had devised a seven-year exit strategy was one such issue, along with a suggestion they intended to raise Ā£300 million in working capital (ie, debt), secured against the club. ā€œI was conscious of the fact Iā€™d agreed a deal with DIC, and telephoned Sameer al Ansari to tell him that the board preferred Gillett and Hicksā€™s offer, and I wanted 48 hours to think things through. DIC representatives confronted me prior to the game and put it to me that I had to sign off on their offer immediately or the deal would be withdrawn. I told them I wouldnā€™t be held to ransom ā€“ and they withdrew the offer. With hindsight, we may have had a lucky escape there as Dubai is not the buoyant market it was in 2007.ā€ā€œ

DIC had big financial issues also

      https://www.campaignlive.co.uk/article/liverpool-fc-set-175m-gillett-takeover-dic-withdraw/629966

Moores entertained Hicks and Co because they were offering more

      And as for DiC

Dubai International Capital, the global investment division of Dubai Holding, a sovereign wealth fund managed by the prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, will cease operations after restructuring $2.5 billion in debt, according to a Bloomberg report. Established in 2004, the firm was unable to fully recover from mounting debt and slumping asset prices in the wake of the financial crisis, despite selling off numerous portfolio companies in recent years, including industrial packager Mauser and retailer Rivoli. DIC had launched a failed bid to acquire Liverpool FC of Englandā€™s Barclays Premier League during 2007.

So you reckon H&G were a better financial prospect than DCI in the longer term?
      Why the F**k I responded to your interminable sh*te I donā€™t know.

When did I say that H&G were better in the long term? 🤷ā€ā™‚ļø

Iā€™m just posting facts and articles of what happened

      Here are the facts

DIC as a company were wound up with debts of Ā£2.5bn

Ā£2.5bn in debt !! So the company that weā€™re looking to buy us were wound up

Moores stated that the board preferred the bid of H&G

I know what it means, do you young'un?

And the award for the biggest overreaction to such a simple and innocuous question goes to you.

Congratulations, think you need to learn how to chill out a bit, somethings clearly troubling you.

Probably cos she's married to one.

Small question, who do you reckon the Geordies prefer right now her or Ashley who also knows f**k all about football?

I've no doubt they'd prefer the group with the deepest pockets and the greater resources to call upon, irrespective of where or who the wealth ultimately came from.

I suppose I just it find it a bit unseemly for a club that prides itself in having working class roots that its fans should so gleefully embrace a Tory-supporting financier and the Middle Eastern money men that are bankrolling the whole thing.

      Her fella is actually Iranianā€¦

If they want the league within 5 years they need to invest 1bn - 2bn in fees, wages, agent fees and helicopters to fly these players from their plush pads in desired areas to the lovely North East for training and matches

How hollow it must be for the toon to know these players who probably have never heard of them or know where the North East is are only going there for the money and wouldn't look twice at them without laughing otherwise.

Then again the promise of billions of dirty money, dirty trophies and shiny new footballers bought and paid for by dirty money is enough for them to gloss over what the Saudis represent, stand for and have done. They are desperate and have sold their souls to the devil. Hope they fail spectacularly.

You're right about the hedge funders, but the difference is that it's financial doping now FFP is pretty much over. Soon, the three oil clubs will occupy the first three positions every year for eternity. And it's completely empty because no one else can compete. That we do so now is only because of the miraculous genius of Klopp. When he leaves and maybe that is as soon as 24, we can forget titles. Us and United will battle every year for the fourth spot.

Which may not even stay in the PL this year. Takeover is definitely exciting for the fans, but not if youā€™re the manager or a player because you know youā€™ll be gone as soon as they can possibly get rid of you.
