Have to admit I am happy for them. I don't know why but I've always liked Newcastle. I think it's because, next to us, they're probably the most football-mad fans in the country. Eat, live, sleep, breathe footy.

The Toon Army must be over the moon.

It'd be interesting if they kept Brucie because I'd like to see what an English manager can do with a few billion (not a chance though) - rather than give it to Jose Guardiola. I mean, we never get the chance to find out because inevitably they'll start looking abroad.

      Keeps things interesting.

EDIT: Nobody's got a good word to say about Ashley.

Yeah like you say they live and breath their football good luck to the toon, till they play us  ;D Can't see them keeping Bruce, much as I like him as a manager he's in the same league as Ole.

disgusting man city and chelsea passing fitness test was bad enough... but now a known murderer gets a pass and become a owner.. i am glad its not us i could not stay a fan of  the club i support if Mbs was in charge i am sorry but this has to stop at somepoint...  having a murderer as owner  is okay as long as winning trophies  with the newcastle fans   yuck.

Yay, another group of owners that don't give a crap about human rights... Money talks I guess.  >:( >:(

I've got absolutely nothing against Newcastle. And they did deserve much better than the clown they had before. But I'm sure they could have found a better offer. A shame, really.

Thing is, when they kick off on a Saturday at 3pm, all that will be instantly forgotten.

When the Toon owners make the Man City owners look like Del Boy and Rodney, you just know it positively stinks of obscene amounts of money.

      /tangent on

To be honest, I've been falling out of love with football for the last 18 months or so (and a major part of that is to do with all the crazy money that's being thrown around). I know I sound like someone's grandfather when I say "it was a better game back in my day.". But I believe that. Ok, perhaps not a better "game", but it was a saner environment where money didn't figure so much (or at least I was blissfully unaware it did).

Nowadays I actually pick and choose my LFC games because I don't have the same passion I used to have. It's all just left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm kind of half hoping he "Sooopaleague" goes ahead so I can finally kick football into the long grass. I'm halfway there as it is.

Not even sad about it either.

What are the chances Bin Salman gets caught on camera doing this?

Bizarre to think that Ashley has left. Given how wretched his ownership was across the last 14 years, it's amazing that Newcastle (after being relegated twice) are still in the top tier. And yet it's odd because they also had that really good season under Pardew with the likes of Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse, Cabaye tearing it up. As good as they had been since the Bobby Robson days!

I think their chances of going down and down was only stopped by Rafa's heroic efforts there. Seriously, given that he was given pennies compared to even the likes of Bruce, what he achieved with the limitations was fantastic. I'd have loved to seen him get a nice thick wad of cash to spend.

Regardless, Mike Ashley...a very very strange ownership tale.

Great news for Newcastle, bad news for us especially who have owners who have their chips on FFP and really bad news for the sport.

Prepare for hyper inflation of transfer fees and wages. Probably a very good time to get Salah signed up before they start paying every no mark they buy in their first few seasons 400k a week.
