Fab and would imagine Jota back in maybe give one a breather up top. No Thiago or Jones so reckon Milner drops to bench

Never go into a game with the mindset of viewing anything other than a win as a good result but knowing the way this bunch play, who’s up front and the antics the whole team will be doing anytime they feel the slightest touch, a draw wouldn’t be the end of the world and would benefit us more than them.

Would love to smash them though, we owe them a beating after last time.

IMO this will be one of the hardest games we will have this season.

Would be surprised if Robbo is rested, I think that was the main reason him and Trent came off so early in the 2nd half at Watford, with this game in mind. With Suarez playing against us, we need to go with our strongest defence and that doesn’t include Kostas.

      Gomez though, quite possible.

                                                   Alisson

                                 Trent     Gomez     Virgil    Robbo
                                                   Fabinho
                                         Hendo               Naby
                                                     Bobby
                                       Salah                  Mane

Proper test is this V Atleti, that scoundrel Simeone just loves upsetting the apple cart, as we’ve all been annoyed about before, to be honest I’m not sure what kind of form they are in compared to us but what I do know is they will have to be at their best to get anything out of the game, and that my pedigree chums will be purely down to us and how we approach and start the game,

A fast start as we did against Watford would be perfect and immediately put them on the back foot and obviously set the pace of the game, they like to play in a similar  fashion so I’m guessing it’s all about who can set the tone first and can sustain the press for longer, a tactic they might use is to get in behind us and supply Greissman and the vampirical Suarez to run onto, one of the reasons I’ve included Gomez beside Virgil rather than Joel,

Was impressed with Naby lad against Watford he along with Hendo ran the show and I’m hopeful they can perform like for like against Atleti, and having Fabinho back further boosts our midfield, and give the old fella Milner a break, apart from Joe it’s the usual suspects at the back and up top the same, how can we drop Bobby after his trifecta ?

Atleti, like most of our opponents this season will be worried, to be fair to them they did get the better of us last time we met, but I feel we are a different animal this time around and I see us turning the tables and taking the three points and putting  us in the Knock out stage virtually .

No doubt they'll be sticking 11 behind the ball and throwing tantrums left, right and centre again.

Would take a point here but it's certainly a winnable game considering how comfortably Chelsea beat them last season.

Looking forward to this. I consider this as a bit of a free hit.

We've not had much of a gap, its our toughest game of the six in the group.  Win and the group is done and dusted for me. Lose and I still think we're going through.

I am completely disregarding any form or results from pandemic football. Look at our game at that training ground last season. Totally bizarre and I don't think it counts! 🤨

I look at this as one huge game. Them being a few levels above Watford, I don't think anyone  will be expecting a stroll in the park on the back of that result. We'll have to be at our best, and its looking like we are very close to that, but its still gonna be a tough encounter. Think a lot will come down to the tactics. In that regard, we have to just play to our strengths, and not get over complicated worrying about what they might do.
High tempo and press high up. Just be aware of the long ball counter, and we should turn them over. Cant remember what I put in the predictions, but at the moment i'm feeling like a good 1 -3 to the Red Men will make a huge statement.

Can see it now, just touch them slightly and they will go down like a bag of sh*t!

Can see plenty of stoppage time both halves due to their Bullshit tactics...let's just hope Mo, Sadio and Bobby score in the first 20 minutes  ;D to throw their game plan into disarray!

Tough, tough match but we're in good form.  Bad omen is from 2017, Madrid sides have been our undoing in 3 oft he 4 years since (we won the other year  ;D).

Full strength side as we've 5 days till another crunch away match at Utd.

Hard fought 1-1 draw and I'd gladly take that.

A point in fact, would not be a bad result, away at Athletico Madrid. Although the form we have shown lately, we are quite capable of another away win !

They won’t be doing the fouls, they will be too busy rolling around whenever they are near a player of ours.

Can’t not play a player out of fear something might happen to him with another tough game coming up, otherwise can make excuses for everyone not to play.

I'd go for a win, i.e. best 11. Then treat it like League Cup till the KO stages. The United game is just on Sunday, so enough rest.

This is a very good point, win tonight and we can rotate heavily in the other games.

5 subs too. Get a couple of goals ahead, which I know is a lot to ask against this frustrating bunch, but it then gives flexibility to rotate through the rest of the game for the weekend. Would even be tempted to change to a back 5 and rest either Mane or Salah at a stage in the game to just see it out.

Need to play them at their own game, if we take the lead then just retain possession, waste time, go down at the slightest touch to buy cheap free kicks and generally frustrate them. Sooner or later they will have to attack if that’s the case and it will create more spaces for us to try and exploit.

Don’t get too tight to Suarez either, defenders that get too tight to him tend to end up regretting it because he’s so good in those situations, whether that’s by rolling the defender or winning a foul. Stand off him a bit and force him to move into an area of the pitch he doesn’t want to be - make him have to try and knock the ball past the defence and run onto it because as good as he is, he was never blessed with a lot of pace and any pace he did have has now gone, get him running after the ball and he won’t be getting to it before any of our defenders. When it comes to the dark arts of the game, he’s as good as they come, factor in how good he still is too and there can’t be any lapses in concentration.
He’s a winner too, will win at all costs so he will be fully up for this game, he won’t have forgotten what we done to him and his Barca teammates.

Expecting the usual frustrating game against these diving pricks. I love to say we'll smash them, but it's going to be a very tough game to win. A draw wouldn't be a bad result In the grand scheme of things, but win and we're practically into the knockout rounds.
Atletico are a good outside bet for the CL this season as are we, so this is a massive game.

Tough game to call this evening and really looking forward to it. Going on form we should just shade this but get ready for a night of screaming at the TV with these pricks diving all over the place. An early goal would be sweet to make them come out and play.

My head can’t see passed a 1-1 draw, which I don’t think would be too bad.

Dirty, boring, defensive team so 1-1 and escape without any injuries and there’ll be no moaning from me.

      Salah and Suarez to score.

Hopefully we better them though and just like against Watford, my head going into the game will be wrong to have been so cautious.

I still love him! Nasty little bast...ard but a supreme talent who gave his all when he wore the shirt (and any shirt he wears).

Would take a draw all day in this one. Tough side to beat on their own patch and La Liga winners. We certainly owe them for 2 years ago though.

Win this game and we'd be as good as qualified, as we'd sit 5 points and at least +6 GD ahead of 2nd with two home games to go.

      Liverpool 9
      Atletico 4
      Porto 1, 2, or 4
      Milan 0, 1, or 3

Been mad busy in work all day so completely forgot this was even on until before. Luckily I was doing the shop when the penny dropped so picked up a few cans for accompaniment 😂

Suppose it's anyone's guess how he'll set up for this one with United at the weekend. Wouldn't be at all surprised if a few curve balls were thrown in terms of rotation (Origi, Ox, Konate etc), as history probably shows that Atletico would be pretty happy to sit back for this one and play our for a draw - and if I'm honest I'd be satisfied with that result myself.

Be good to see Suarez v Salah again, especially after all the recent talk of where the latter ranks amongst our all time greats, with the former also being used as a comparison on a number of occasions.

May very well be a bit of a stinker à la the game at their place a couple of seasons ago, but I've got a little feeling it could be a cracker with Luis and Mo both on the pitch. Early goal from ourselves I think would set up a really good game
