AFter watching the highlights you get to see again what a disaster we were defensively. I still cannot understand how a softly hit ball on the ground from the very top of the box can make it all the way through and no one gets a damn foot on it. Then you have Griezman left all alone by Van Dijk and Matip isn't holding his line so he's putting him onside and it ends up 1v1 on Alisson. Inexplicable. On the 2nd goal, even after Felix gets past Keita, we have our entire back 4 in position and 3 midfielders a few feet away while they only have Felix with the ball, Griezman through the middle and another player on the far left basically out of the play. That's basically 7v2 and we still get scored on like amateurs. Then, once again, an Atleti player, Felix this time, is left alone on the left wing and no one thinks of covering him and we end up needing another save from Alisson. And that was just in the first half.

I don't know what it is about playing Spanish teams in Spain, but we become bumbling idiots defensively.

So now we sit 5 points and +6 GD on 2nd place Cuntletico with 3 games to play. Group shaping up very nicely.

Our midfield was not up for the physical battle but it is a result game and we got what we came for.

Alisson saved us with so one to ones.

I don't know what it is about playing Spanish teams in Spain, but we become bumbling idiots defensively.

To be honest we’ve been like that several times this season. As good as we are going forward, we have some big issues defensively lately. When we concede a goal, it tends to be a sloppy goal and looks as though we could end up letting in more, just look at the horror show vs Brentford.

Maybe it’s a case of the CBs having spent near on a year out injured and still not quite up to speed, either way, teams are carving through us with ease but luckily Alisson saved us on multiple occasions last night.

In a group that contains Atletico, Milan and Porto, I don’t think anyone expected us to have 9 points from the first 9, especially with one of the first 3 games being at Atletico. Put ourselves in a great position early on and in full control of the group.

      Mediocre performance but fantastic result!

I'd rather beat them like that than to have gone on to win 3/4-0 after the great start.

If Carlsberg did "How to beat a team full of sh##housery, coached by by biggest sh##house c### in Europe", THAT would surely be it.

More of the same on Sunday, please.

      Non-handshaking tw##!!

Can't wait for the Kop to rile the f### out of him/them in a fortnight.

Strange game. Great first 20 but after that .... no nous or composure. Nobody keeping the ball ... without Ali I don't think we would have even got a point.

That said we kept going and the way it all went down was very sweet.

Want us to tear them apart at Anfield, secure qualification and then unlike last season when we lost jota for 3 months plus others put the 2nd 11 out for the final 2 games. If Milan or Porto knock those c**ts out I'd be very happy indeed.

Simione is joint biggest c**nt in football along with the one they have upfront. Id love to rub both their noses in it and bid them both cheerio at anfield.

Onto Sunday we go ... they are under pressure. Big start needed and we need to tighten up in midfield and in possession and hopefully that will enable us to control the games better and tighten up at the back.

Glad to get away with the points and no injuries , When Jota got dragged down for our penalty should the offending player have got a red card ? Jota was the last man before their keeper ,Athletico got away with 'pantomime' diving and rolling around that needs punishing with cards .We started off well scoring 2 quick goals ,Naby scoring another cracker ! but our midfield had no tackling or control ,still feel Fab and Thiago are our best options ,Ali ........class!

Excellent win.  Thought the first goal should not have stood if that is the rule then its daft.  They were constantly trying to do it pushing the off side rule.   If that player isn't there Matip clears that ball.  Matip isn't suppose to know if he is off side.  Bollocks cheating cu*ts.   Whats the point of VAR if the refs are blatantly tried to be conned and they do nothing with the penalty appeal.  Jota did nothing wrong he had to stand his ground.  Cheating dirty cu*ts hope we do them at home which we will and Porto get through, like someone mentioned play the kids against Porto.

The theatrics, the simulations, the antics, the referee bullying that still pervade the Spanish and Italian leagues take football back into the dark ages.
At least this Spanish crowd didn't whistle the entire match like the fans of its cross town neighbor.
Having just watched the Netflix "Bad Sports" documentary that shed light on the Juventus refereeing scandal, I was fully expecting this referee to completely fold under the pressure from the hostile home manager and his merry band of floppers.
Thankfully, this ref held strong despite some shaky calls.
Regarding the Atletico set piece goal that had an off side player by the post, If Matip made an attempt at the ball, I'm sure an interference/offsides call would have been made. Bang bang play, and Matip was motionless.
The red card penalty for foot to the face was clear and obvious, a text book example in fact. Didn't stop the theatrics though.

How I despise everything about Madrid teams

Any way 9 points......such a great position to be sitting in....well deserved.
The front line has been on fire and is reminiscent of 2017-18

Great result which lines things up nicely going into the rest if the group stage games. Unless we absolutely collapse don't see how we won't have our name in the draw for the knockout stage.

Great too see our attack continue to rack up goals, this side is kinda reverting back to first full season Klopp was here where we scored goals for fun and "rock and roll" football.

Performance may not have been the best at time but when you are playing away in Madrid wins are hard to come by and much more enjoyable (especially with their style of play).

A fantastic result from a very difficult game, Atletico is a powerhouse with an excellent defending strategy, perhaps Klopp needs to teach his wobble defense some. Luckily we had to goal start, and Atletico went down to 10 men due to the main and only contribution by the passenger (Firmino the dud). The goals were mainly down to the clumsy Matip and lightweight Keita, mind you the whole defence has struggled, Trent, Robbo, and Matip were really poor, even VVD was far behind. Klopp needs to reshuffle his defence, Gomez and Tsimikas ought to be recalled and even Konate. The rest of the players and the keeper have done very well.
We are still lacking creativity upfront, and Coutinho is still available for LFC to re-grab him easily. He is the missing link.

A huge improvement is required for the Sunday game against the scum.

What is your obsession with Firmino?

We are still lacking creativity upfront

Scored a minimum of 3 goals in 9 of our 12 games this season, but yeah we are lacking creativity…

Coutinho is still available for LFC to re-grab him easily. He is the missing link.

Missing link to what? Being 1 point off first in the league and currently unbeaten with the best GD? Having maximum points in Europe so far? Being in the next round of the Carabao cup?

How exactly are we missing that injury faking tw*t?
