A fantastic result from a very difficult game, Atletico is a powerhouse with an excellent defending strategy, perhaps Klopp needs to teach his wobble defense some. Luckily we had to goal start, and Atletico went down to 10 men due to the main and only contribution by the passenger (Firmino the dud). The goals were mainly down to the clumsy Matip and lightweight Keita, mind you the whole defence has struggled, Trent, Robbo, and Matip were really poor, even VVD was far behind. Klopp needs to reshuffle his defence, Gomez and Tsimikas ought to be recalled and even Konate. The rest of the players and the keeper have done very well.
We are still lacking creativity upfront, and Coutinho is still available for LFC to re-grab him easily. He is the missing link.

A huge improvement is required for the Sunday game against the scum.

      Typical reaction from him really.

Laughed my arse, would of been funny if the ref had given him another yellow.

Anyway another chorus of "F**k off Suarez" in two weeks time!!

Surprised he didn't get that second yellow. He deserved it!

      Quote from Richard88
That was a brave (and correct) refereeing decision to disallow that Atletico penalty. I thought for sure he was going to cave and give it to appease the home crowd. He had a bit of a wobble in the 5-10 minutes after giving the red card where he got conned into booking Milner and gave a few cheap free kicks to Atletico, but on the whole he did a pretty good job.

The double-whammy for Atletico with the red card is that Griezmann will miss the return game at Anfield which will benefit us.

9 points from 3 games, 5 points and +6 GD ahead of 2nd place, with two home games to come. Glorious position to be in. Hopefully we'll beat Atletico again in two weeks with Porto not winning in Milan to seal 1st place with 2 games to spare.

You knew something was coming at that free kick, every player was lined up as if it was a rugby line out, so the slightest contact, and I mean slight, was going to knock them down like skittles. They can con a human being, but they can't con a camera. The ref saw the incident on the monitor and decided the the level of contact was not sufficient enough to uphold the original decision. The use of VAR is essential against teams like that in atmospheres like that, to see if they really have won a genuine penalty or not.

Great goal by Keita, and one to remember. Then he reverted to the Keita of old, so he had to be subbed at half time. Fabinho should have started instead, and when he did come on he stabilised the ship. I don't know how Salah got credited with the first goal but somehow he was credited with it.

They really are an awful, horrible, rotten gang of thugs to play against. So well done to the ref again who saw Griezmann trying out his MMA skills on Firmino, and he saw through all the antics and the protests and the rollovers by "the red card squad" as LFCTV called them. 4 of them queueing up to ensure TAA was booked when he was. And some people admire them? 🤔

At the 5th attempt in the competition, we've finally beaten them. In this case, revenge really is sweet.

Thought that the angle of Jotas run though would give them the peno, he wasnt parallel to the guy, he kinda angled his run slightly into the guy, and when you are running and keeping your eyes upward on an in-swinging ball, slighter contact that usual can make you go over.
Obviously you guys and the ref didn't agree though, and I'm good with that :)
