Looking forward to two grand clubs meeting for only the second time in competitive football for decades with the last one in the the FA Cup with Riera's bullet shot sealing the game.

Liverpool and Preston North End have so much in common; the cities were the two biggest West Lancashire coast ports throughout the last few centuries, the Scottish connection for players, Bill Shankly played nearly 300 times for Preston and the Liverpool fans will be housed in the 6,000 Bill Shankly Kop, Mark Lawrenson and Mike Robinson both played for these great clubs. Preston had their great history at the end of the 19th Century, we had ours towards the end of the 20th and continue to create history.  There's only 35 miles between the two clubs.

Anyway I would go with Kelleher, Neco, Konate, Gomez, Tsimikas, Jones, Ox (for game time), Morton, Jota, Divock and Minamino.  Similar to others posted on here.

Well let’s not weaken too much. I’d like to see us have a decent run in the domestics this season, not at the expense of the prem or CL of course. We do have a decent pool of fringe players, but too many introduced at once may backfire. Let’s get it won first, then put a few more out there.

Would be my pick too, ahead of Stevie. If only for the sake of continuity.
And we tend to do rather well when we replace a manager with his assistant...

He's a good understudy but would prefer Gerrard with Peps as Ast. manager.

Slightly off topic so many apologgies, I think we should leave Stevie alone for a few years mate, let him learn his trade, he’s doing well up at Ibrox but I’d like to see him cut his teeth in a more competitive league, perhaps maybe the Championship with whoever, in footballing terms he’s still in his infancy as far as management is concerned,

I’d like to see Pep Ljinders take over form Jürgen….Eventually….without stating the obvious….akin to when Bob took the reigns from Shanks, nobody knows  the players better than himself and Jürgen, nobody knows the philosophy either, for me it would be a perfectly natural transition without much disruption, and I  think the players themselves would be very comfortable with Pep taking the wheel, but that we all hope is quite a few years away yet, because I just feel Jürgen will extend and not quite ready to hang up his snood.

would never want to see or listen to Gerrard as manager... he was doubly depressing yesterday going on about Walter Smith.

      Its nailed on mate.

Ive not enjoyed stevie as a manager with the press, he hardly ever compliments the other team.

But all that matters really is if the players give their all for him, which he seems to be getting at rangers.

Difficult game to predict a score line, no idea who will be picked to play against Preston tonight. I hope a reasonably strong side is chosen .

      Adrian
      Williams, Gomez, Phillips/Konate, Kostas
      Ox, Morton, Jones
      Taki, Origi, Mane

This wont be far off I reckon.

Bench will be strong for defence and attack, but fek knows what midfielders will be on the bench. ;D

Issue we have is we are close to a crisis in midfield now with only 3 first team midfielders left fit and with us playing 3 in the middle that doesn't give us any wriggle room for this match.

Usually Curtis and Ox would be straight into this side but they will probably need to play against Brighton at weekend. We are not far away from a real problem in midfield now. All of our injuries are in there this time around rather than last year when they were at the back.

Hopefully Elliott aside the rest sre short term problems.

All of the MF's apart from Elliott are relatively short term injuries.

We could change formation to play a 3-5-2, at least for the 1st half, then use subs to go back to 4-3-3 depending on how game is going.

Morton, Musialowski and Balagizi will be the kids to feature tonight, I suspect.

Would love to see Musialowski get some minutes. I'm really curious to see what he could do in a senior game.

I hate to put that label on anyone. There is potential in a number of them like Gordon, Bradley and Morton but there are so many variables. Usually Everyone who saw a Trent or a Mason Greenwood at age 12 and predicted greatness, was wrong about 5 other players. When I saw Harvey Elliott two seasons ago I didn't.expect he would look as good as he did at the beginning.of this season. It's an uncertain proposition.

Hope Ox, Jones and Hendo aren't anywhere near the starting XI here. Really can't afford another injury in midfield.

Will tsimikas get a run out, or Robbo get to practice his crossing 😊
If Robbo’s in, (very unlikely) I’m going for 48th minute again 😂
