One of my all time favorites. I will never forget his goals for us.

What he did and the goals he scored, especially against Norwich was amazing.

None of his goals looked easy, he made it look easy but most normal players wouldn't come close to Suarez's goal scoring abilities when he was with us!

A player for me who was great was Steve mcmanaman. His touch and skills were such a blessing for us in our drought years.
I’d love to see that kind of player come through our ranks again.

Shame about his finishing though, his average shot being a fanny pea-roller. Another spice-boy being eclipsed by our current mob.

Is this a general topic or Suarez only?

If its general and to go with someone rarely mentioned for how good he was, Aldo

To put in context we leave west ham with a point minimum yesterday with Aldo, he taps in Sadios header near the end yesterday, he was class at being in the right place right time

Dirk Kuyt for me. Could slot into any Liverpool squad over the last couple of decades. He really was so good and underrated. A but like Park for Man Utd (one of a handful of United players who I would have killed to see play for Liverpool) .

Jürgen would have loved his energy and commitment. In a Jürgen team what role would he have played though? I think he could easily have played the spolier/disruptor no 9 role that Firmino has done. Maybe doesn't have the technical vision of Firmino but would have had more goals in him for sure. Mane and Salah would have enjoyed the space he created.

Perhaps only Milner compares in terms of work rate in all the players I've seen.

      Rob Jones.

Quality full back - still can't believe how he was moved to left-back to accommodate that gobs***e McAteer.

Still loved his debut, unknown kid from Crewe and basically kept Giggseh in his back pocket for the whole game in a 0-0 draw at OT.

      Steve Heighway.

Unbelievable winger in his day had all the trickery to easily beat his man with a drop of the shoulder or swerve.

And one of the few professional footballers to hold a degree, so brains as well as skills.

Absolutely agree with this. I remember that debut as well. Souness was manager (I think), and you're right, he barely gave Giggs a touch.

Rob Jones' debut was the best I've ever seen from any player. The only defender I was excited to watch.

He was a very special player and it was a shame he had to retire at only 27. Just brilliant.

Xabi. What we'd do for Xabi in this midfield. Imagine the passes he'd play to release Salah.

You obviously never saw Molby, he'd make Xabi blush the way he could bring players into play.

Plus he was a fat b***ard giving lard arses hope everywhere, loved a bevvy and tipped the odd car over in Chester.

      I loved Big Jan.

Haha! Remember seeing Molby interviewed about ten years after retirement and at least 5 stone heavier than his prime and my mate said, " At least he's lost weight."

Great player, but no one talks about him these days. My big regret from that time is that we never signed Michael Laudrup.
