Disappointing result, and after such a good one last week. Lot for Jürgen to think about.

It’s the midfield. Fabinho and Henderson are great in that role. Any disruptions and the balance goes.
I wonder if it would be better pair with Henderson and Morton and let Jones play to his usual role.
As inexperienced as morton is it could be better than square pegs in round holes.

      Quote from Don77
2 years ago we took advantage of every city slip and opened up a lead by December time.

Chelsea doing the same now  .... Rock solid at the back ... control the game and ruthless once they have a team on the ropes.

We can't win the league defending like this and throwing leads away ... 6 points now from winning positions. We were lucky in the end today to get a point, like at Brentford and that says it all.

We took advantage of the latest City slip up. Albeit not as much as we wanted, but it's more than what they got. Most teams beat Newcastle and Norwich, so there's not much to say about that.

We've kept 6 clean sheets so far, and we have conceded half the number of goals than at the same point last season.

Great first half hour until the disallowed goal. No arguments with it though. Aldo went ballistic over the throw in decision that led to the next goal, wanting VAR to step in. VAR has no power over throw in decisions, be they right or wrong. But what today has reminded us again, is that you haven't got points in the bank or titles in the bag, until the final whistle has gone.

Maybe, depending on injury, need to look at all the options

Really galling to read and know people struggling to get tickets at anfield to watch the reds and then seeing people piling out before injury time even started today.

Pretty bad result. Its those games that make the difference at the end of the season, not your games against the top 4 or 6 teams.

We scored two and this should be enough on any day especially against a team like Brighton. From the start of the second half they broke through our press with ease and could've scored more than the one goal they netted. It was if like we were trying to press high but were clueless about how to do so. Neither Henderson, Jones or Ox looked good trying to win back the ball once we lost it. Considering how high the full-backs are this basically left VVD and Konate, on the back foot, trying to fend off 3 or 4 players during all of the 2nd half.

To that I would add that Trent was abysmal defensively all night long. On more than 3 or 4 occasions he messes up simple clearing headers at the edge of the box or in the box and it just piles up the pressure on us.

Its also one of those games (just like against Brentford) where we missed Thiago. Would've been nice after the 2-0 to be able to control the pace of the game and break through the Brighton press. The other player who could've helped with that (by breaking with the ball at his feet) is Keita and he got injured.

Very regrettable to be leading 2-0 at home and get out of the game with only 1 point out of the 3.

I just fear we aren't deep enough to contend with Chelsea. To be fair, few in the world are. Klopp allowing Firmino to suck the life out of attack today really hurt. That game screamed Jota 20 minutes before the change was made. Love Bobby to death, but he sucked today, plain and simple. One of the worst games I've seen him play

Strange day of results in general. We lost points from 2-0 up, City lost 2-0 to Palace, Burnley got an easy win, Chavs were pushed for majority of their game. Then abroad Ajax, Juventus and others all dropped points in games they should be winning.

But of a freak week it seems.

All seems a bit chaotic so far more of  structure issue not strangling teams like when we won league . Fab not only issue not playing far as I can remember he played against Brentford , City and Milan when we were alarmingly cut open

Poor second half, Chamberlain and Curtis far too lightweight in midfield, literally threw away the three points.

Gutted tbh. Two valuable points down the swanny. Far too soft an underbelly and it feels like a pattern has emerged where we just aren't quite as solid as we need to be. There aren't too many times we can afford to repeat this if we are serious about winning the thing.

Rock and roll football is back it seems. We come out hot and score a few goals early and die off as the game goes on and end up with draws.

After the game Klopp said he wasn’t happy with the body language from some of the players in the 2nd half. Makes me question even more why he then left it until around the 80th and 88th minute before making changes.

Yea that was flat out embarrassing when you consider an entire season played behind closed doors. Surely can’t be the tourists either there were too many that left far too many old fellas who looked like they should have been at home having a kip. F**k it off give your tickets to someone else!

We got 7 points from first three games.
7 points from the three games after.
7 points from the three games after that.
In the next batch of three games we have started with a point.

All this sandwiched with wins against athletico in Madrid, Milan, Porto in Porto, league cup games as well.

The four teams to stop us from winning are last seasons English champions, last seasons European champions and two clubs that have been impressive all season in Brighton and Brentford.

Huge wins at Leeds and United and we sit top of our champions league group and second in the league unbeaten behind Chelsea.

We can analyse the Brighton game. We were not good enough. Brighton were superb. But reading on here you would think we were in crisis.

      So hard to take.

We had the game and we lost it due to our loss of hunger.

Mane was immense and even Keita before getting injuried.

In all the games where we dropped points, there is a worrying trend. Even the games in which we won, this trend persists. Against Milan and Atletico, we took the lead, sometimes a 2 goal lead, and then let the opposition in. The same applies to games vs Brentford and Brighton. And, we couldn't win against a 10 man Chelsea. In fact, I was nervous even at 2-0 against United because of this pattern found in our games. Needless to say all the games where we dropped points feels like losses.

The lack of defensive solidity is worrying. And, this is mainly due to the midfield. At the moment we have 3 out of 8 fit midfielders. It feels like a different team without Fabinho.

Yea I missed this one as well.

They're a decent side but we should be winning that game from 2-0 up.

Midfield is a worry as Henderson isn't in top form this season and be all accounts Chamberlain and Jones were none existent for large parts yesterday.
