Liverpool 2-0 FC Porto: In game and Post Match discussion
      Nov 24, 2021 06:45:42 pm

Anfield under the light in UCL

Starting XI: Alisson, Williams, Matip, Konate, Tsimikas, Morton, Thiago, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mane, Salah, Minamino.

Subs: Adrian, Kelleher, Fabinho, Van Dijk, Milner, Henderson, Jota, Robertson, Origi, Phillips, Alexander-Arnold.

Tyler Morton makes his Champions League debut in Liverpool’s Anfield encounter with FC Porto this evening.

The 19-year-old is handed a berth in midfield as the Reds make four changes from Saturday’s 4-0 win over Arsenal.

Ibrahima Konate and Neco Williams come into defence, while Takumi Minamino is named in attack.

Alisson Becker will wear the captain’s armband, with James Milner, Andy Robertson and Divock Origi back among the substitutes.

Good to see Milner is back in the lineup and that Jota’s knock wasn’t serious.

Expect Milly, Hendo and Divock to get 30-45 minutes

Disappointed a couple of kids didn’t make the bench.

Hopefully we can get an injury free game and get some minutes under the belt for those who need some

How does registration work? Can we just move players in and out of registration whenever we want, or do we have to stick with those registered for the group stage with changes only due to injury?

I think the club registers an amount of squad players but youngsters that have been at the club for 3 years can be included (or something like that...)

Decent starting11 that. Tyler might need a bit of looking after, but we’ll done to him.
Don’t think there’s any need to reduce my predicted winning margin. Will stick with 3:0

Come on you red men, continuity breeds confidence.

Yeah but ffs this game doesn’t matter! The schedule is mental and no Firmino until mid December at least apparently, Mane/Mo going to be needed in every game.  Obviously klopp knows what he’s doing and this is where the injuries are a real blow, but it slightly kills his argument about the schedule

Yeah but ffs this game doesn’t matter!

Based on the most recent figures, a single victory in the group stage is worth €2.7 million (£2.3m/$3m) and a draw is worth €900,000 (£780k/$1m).

Calm down.  I didn't say I was disagreeing with you.  Just trying to suggest reasons why Jürgen might feel compelled to play a stronger team here than in, lets say, a 4th round League Cup game which you actually must win to progress.

Let's hope the curse of Diogo Jota's injury last season doesn't hit us tonight.
