Conundrum. Champions league or Premier league?

I don’t think you can now win both, if Klopp were to think the same thing what do you do in his position?

Go for Premier league and rest players CL?

Go for CL and rest players in Premier league?

      Still go for both?

It’s never ideal having to choose as you want to win the two best Competitions in world football.
Personally I’d go for CL now, obviously not as many games involved so go all out to make your best 11 fresh and available to take City- Bayern Munich- Chavs- PSG and possible Ajax on.

If you go for both I honestly don’t think you win any, for me you have to commit to one or the other due to the size of your squad.

      What’s your thoughts?

It's not a conundrum, the PL was gone after the result against Leicester, nevermind failing to convert the 0-2 with Chelsea. I want us to go all out in the League Cup too. We'll get top four no matter what.

I'd go all-in for the Carabao Cup!  :lmao:

As things stand, it doesn't really matter though, as we are unable to rotate. We basically play with whoever is fit.

Resting depends on how the next few weeks go really. If we have a bad spell we'll be in a mad slog for top four again so will need to go full strength across both. If we pick things up again though, top four would be relatively safe and there would be a chance to give a few key players a break in March/April.

We can rotate, to the extent that we are willing to play the kids. What's wrong with the League Cup? Looks a lot more attractive when we can't win the League, when we're in the semi, and when we can't win the PL but are virtual certainties for the top four. A trophy is still worth something even if it's a sh*te competetion.

Think you’ll get top 4 regardless of any bad spell if that was to happen.

I agree with this when you get to quarter/semi final stages..

Nice distraction from the 0-1 v Wolves, eh Keith ;D

League for us is a very long shot indeed. The only thing we can do is plug away and focus on shorter-term goals we can realistically affect, like managing games when we're ahead and cutting out stupid mistakes.

I quite fancy our chances in the cups as we are as dangerous as any team in Europe at our best, even if we lack City's consistency.

I don't think you can separate league from cups quite so easily. If you're playing poorly in the league the chances are it is a symptom of a problem that may at some point affect your chances in other competitions, especially Europe where the team selections are likely to be of similar strength.

Recent results probably make this decision for the club really.
Barring an implosion from City and/or a January signing or two CL and cups is where it's at for the rest of the season.

Win the carrier bag cup, top 4 and a good run in the CL, final hopefully and a win.
