Can't believe Jürgen using Covid as an excuse.

      Agree.

It's always amusing when you criticise the boss people act as if it is sacrilege.

Doesn't mean anything more than he got it wrong and had a sh*t game.

Yep. Jürgen gets very little wrong, but the reluctance to make changes today with several players obviously struggling (Trent in particular being off the scale in how lacking in energy he was) and that midfield obviously being way too conservative once they went down to 10, was really poor. Possibly Jürgen's worst day at the office that I can think of in terms of game management.

It's only a draw of course. I think we are still slight favourites. So it is not the worst result Jürgen has had by any means. But the lack of flexibility was probably the most obvious I have seen from him in his time with us. Should never have been 77 minutes til those subs came on. The game was begging us to go out and win it, and we just stuck with a setup that stopped making sense the moment Xhaka went off.

Well, every one save Gini. Or you mean of the current crop?

      Current.

Honestly thought that was obvious as Gini doesn't play for us anymore?

Anyone miss Origi? Would have been a good threat in the air and not afraid to make space and have a pop, which everyone seemed scared to do till it was too late.

In the Gengs days, we would have taken these to the cleaners. but with Virge being there, JK has had a more cautius idea with players he's got. Not good in my eyes, corners were abismal tonight with no chance for anyone. with 5 at the back, we needed to go wide but quality was lacking

“ Klopp: "When you play against such a low block, we struggled tonight. Second half we looked better and had situations - but it was not good enough for the result. But it's only half-time. It's not like we have no chance. We will give the second game a proper try."

I was hoping someone would make that point.

      What point is that?

That a footballer no longer plays for us?

me he is different and a focal point in a game like this. If he goes how do we replace him and how much would it cost because he has pulled us through so many times

Reckon we might not be as quick to shift him on this Jan.  Gives us something a bit different.
And given a chance in front of goal, would prefer him to be there ahead of a few others.

Any news on the Salah contract....

It will be announced on deadline day with further FSG spin on how they are always prepared to back the club to the tilt.

As much as Divock is a bit of a legend here he can easily be replaced.

when he was here he did play a lot of games that is the point its not an unreasonable question. Maybe he didnt play that many games but as far as I can remember he was available more often than not where Keita, Thiago, Henderson, Fab, and Ox have all had extensive time out. I didnt include young Harvey as he has hardly started his career.

This is a concern, because we have heard this before. So why is something nit being worked on in training to get around it?

We're definitely talking about Divock Origi here right?

Because if we still are you definitely have lost the plot or just being argumentative for the sake of it.

Circumstantially one of the worst performances I've seen for a while that, considering we were against ten men for the majority of the game.

Atmosphere was an absolute stinker as well. No idea why our reaction to them going a man down was to sing "F**k the Tories", especially considering Arsenal come from a North London Labour stronghold where none other than Jeremy Corbyn is the MP 🙃

Can harp on about FSG and signings but the senior lads should have done much better there. Winning that game was the very least we should have done having played against 10 men for the majority of it. Just got to dust ourselves off and go again now in the second leg. Feels like a defeat but it's still level playing, just hope we pull our finger out next week. But my god, that was a stinker

Another poor and lacklustre performance. This is becoming a theme. We’ve only won 1 of our last 6 games and that was against Shrewsbury. Sure we got past Leicester in the cup but that was on penalties.

Things aren’t right at the moment and December/January isn’t a time you want to be in this form.

Right, so now we know that when the opposing team go down to 10 men we may as well just go home.

That was awful. Tempo was decent in that we were going for it... yet bizarrely we managed to slow it down in the final third by making sloppy passes or attempted forward balls. The amount of times we gave it away was unbelievable. Trent stood out to me as being an utter failure tonight. No surprise he was replaced, and Williams was able to attack down the wing.

Arsenal were narrow, yet we ignored our flanks. Yet again we relied on Matip as our creative and attacking player  :f_doh:

Totally dominated. Never looked like conceding, yet never looked like scoring. That was a training match nothing more.. but a massively wasted opportunity.

This time of the season seems to be a problem for us nearly every year. It's obvious Jürgen doesn't like the mid-winter schedule, and he may have a point, but I don't think him going on about it all the time is helping. Well it definitely isn't helping. He needs to accept this is the way it is in English football and just get on with it.

We came closer to conceding than we did scoring, luckily Alisson bailed us out on the Saka chance.
