Sometimes after a result that didnt go our way some people come on here and overreact to the result. Likewise some people come and defend the performance or result to the hilt

Tonight Im feeling, probably for the first time, that everyone is annoyed, worried, angry etc etc

You are right Brian, you can cut it, slice it or dice it anyway you want but that to me just shows how thin our squad is.
Devoid of any ideas until the final 5 minutes or so.
We deffo need some new blood and quick.

We’re terrible in midfield for so many games this season needs improving never mind corners or throw ins

      I don't disagree mate.

Midfield has increasingly become an issue especially when Thiago and Keita are missing.

Don't want to see Milner and Henderson in the same midfield again.

The attackers will get the blame but our midfield was terrible today, no creativity whatsoever.

As soon as Jones came on we looked completely different and even Ox was making a difference.

Minamino should have secured the win, still think we go there and beat them but a performance to forget from the lads.

dont watch on Sunday as I cant see him changing them. I didnt see Ox do anything and Curtis did the only quality touch or pass of the night and we nearly scored as a result.

      Poor performance all round tonight

Players can’t get any momentum going at the moment , some look leggy , Covid hit a few , some just out of Nick through lack of playing time - always seems to be the way after a break

Midfield choice was the main issue tonight , didn’t need both Milner and Henderson

Worse thing that happened was the sending off - they sat back isolated the wide players forcing the ball back into the middle where they had lots of numbers

It was only when Jones and then Willlams came on did the width appear and chances created but poor execution

Second leg should see Arsenal break out a little to leave space behind -

Don’t think will see Milner and Henderson together for Brentford- may even see both rested

but they are injured or away and they have both had injuries that have hindered their influence on this team. I hope Jones now gets his chance we need him and he needs game time to develop. If the rumours are correct we will be without thiago for sometime and its a worry.

Well Jürgen left Hendo on and hooked Milly and Fab.

For me Fab was as poor as the other two. Not sure why he's escaping some grief while the other two cop most of it.

But deffo agree that we need changes in the middle before the next game.

I think Curtis will get the nod over Milner. I would probably drop Henderson over Milner but unlikely to happen.

Ox actually had a shot and dribbled past a player or two and made space for Neco down the right, who look d very good when coming on.

Even merson spots our problem, say no more

its not difficult to see mate is it Mo and Sadio define this team and its success. The energy and quality they bring is off the scale

What I.like about Williams.is he squares FBs up and has a go at going round them which Trent never does . Obviously Trent a better FB but when you are playing 10 you have to get to the byline and behind them

Milner is finished at this level and I'm increasingly worried that the skipper isn't far behind him.

Definitely against the other teams in the top half. He may get away with it against your Norwich/Watfords but thats about it.  At least he's available more often than Thiago and Keita can manage.  Hardly dependable replacements.

Well that was revealing. Most obvious reveal was how much we missed Mo and Sadio. i mean yes you expect to miss them, but to have total domination of possession and only create 1 real chance in the whole game?!? That was a bit scary. Never mind Afcon, we have been really lucky how few injuries (touch wood) those 2 have had over the last 5 years. Hopefully that display will wake everybody up to the fact we really really need another wide man in this window, particularly a right sided one.

Other thing this game highlighted was Jürgen's only weakness - his reluctance to make changes. After they went down to 10, we literally had >85% possession in the first half, without creating a single chance. Control of the midfield was no longer an issue - what we needed was a creative player in there. But he stuck with our 3 workhorses until the 60th minute. Why? Likewise, how the hell did Trent stay on until the 77th minute? He was playing like he was in a coma, offered literally no width the entire game, despite all our possession. I was getting seriously pissed off with him until the commentator reminded me he was just back from Covid. Clearly he was struggling and should have been subbed way earlier. It wasn't until the 77th minute Jürgen finally made the necessary subs, after which we actually had a wee bit of threat, but too late.

MOTM for me was Matip. Feels like about the 10th time this season he has been my MOTM. Today he was literally our most creative player as well - the only one who was prepared to beat his man.

Really did show up the our weak points that game. Hopefully both FSG and Jürgen have a long think about it. Cos, for FSG, we are short at least 1 creative player, and, for Jürgen, we are too reluctant to make changes even when obviously needed.

I did. Im honestly curious why you think JK had a bad game.

I assume being the coach he picks the players and tactics?

Playing with a front 6 with zero pace but still setting us up as if Mane and Salah are playing.

Milner starting and then playing him with Henderson for as long as he did.

      That’s enough for starters.
