We better hold a zero because I have the impression we might just score one goal at all. Good thing it is a home game, I hope the home crowd is there. We are struggling, so we need any help.

                       Alisson
             Matip - Virgil - Konate
      Trent - Hendo - Fabinho - Robbo
           Gordon - Bobby - Jota

Allows the wing backs to just attack, with them both forward their wide players wont dare go too forward, Matip and Konate can go on a run if the chance comes up and Bobby can drop back a little when needed.

A couple of changes from last nights game, Jones to start for milner. Ox for taki.

Will be a similar game to last night. They will sit in again and try and use Toney's power on the break.

Interested to see if we've learnt anything from last night.

If you look at the stats - especially compared to City - our problem is not to score (City 53, Liv 52), it is we concede too much (City 13, Liv 18).

To me, these are the moments I get frustrated with Klopp. It's a silly thing to say, as I am an idiot and Klopp is a footy genius, but I digress.

Klopp tries to sometimes force a square peg into a round hole. Right now we have all of our CBs healthy, and they're all in pretty good form. Our MF is depleted and not firing, and our attack is almost unrecognizable without Mo and Manes speed on the counter. We don't have the personal to play our style of football, so why not play to current squads strengths? Play with 3 CBs and let the full back bomb up the pitch and try a create for you, without having to worry as much to get back. This group just isn't creative enough for the 4-3-3, so call an audible

      Hold a zero  ;D

Curtis for Milner, maybe Ox for Hendo fitness levels depending and I'd actually stick with the same front three but switch them around with Jota central. Same back 4.

Wiill be an intriguing match as pressure is on us to once more pick the lock, hopefully with a more intelligent approach than v Arsenal + a plan if it isn't working.

I see us starting with the same 11. Again not being able to break through the wall of defenders. Brentford nicking  one on the break. Nothing changing until 78 mins, and subs brought on to go through the same routines.
      We ending up losing.

Not how I want it to be, but if Jürgen sees his set up not working snd fails to implement any changes it’s a likely outcome. And there won’t be a plan B to fall back on !
A few sides have underestimated Brentford’s Energy and determination, helping to bridge the talent gap.
Despite the quality gap, we are in for one hell of a game.

Jürgen will never do it, but with Mo n Sadio away I'd play a 4-4-2 to give us some width -

                     Ali

      Neco  Matip Virgil Robbo

      Gordon Hendo Fab Kostas

               Bob Jota

(Trent sits out cos he looked totally pooped against Arsenal. Could play Gomez there and Gordon or Neco as the winger if we wanted a bit more solidity down the right.)

Hope Klopp picks at least one creative midfielder. We were European, Premier League and World Champions a couple of seasons back so I'm sure we've got loads of them.

Probably not but then you have to ask whats the point in having young talent if they cant get a chance when the others in his position are not playing well

But yes unlikely well see him

Gordon has some way to go before he’s ready to be starting in the league IMO. Starting against the likes of Shrewsbury is one thing, starting in the league is another thing entirely and he’s not ready for it yet, he’s still far too light weight.

Brian I am not.opposed to young players getting a chance. Acquiring a young standout like Gordon clearly can be a big.part of team-building, but I liken it to Harvey before his loan to Blackburn: Kaide is promising but still a bit light for the Premier League. Last season there was a lot of clamor on here for Taki. Some were very critical that he was loaned out. He's shown some flashes of goal scoring ability. I know he missed a sitter vs Arsenal but he's active in the press and with his work off the ball. I doubt Jürgen will jettison him from the starting XI already.

Agree a similar pathway to Harvey is what is needed for him . Think   a season in the championship would be a good start

The problem this season seems to be our variance of outputs. You have great games mixed up with weak games. Reminds me of the pre 2018 time when we were a rollercoaster team.

Yes but we had Salah and Mane on the pitch for most of that. We also had Thiago and to a lesser degree Keita on the pitch to help with creativity.

Without all those players it's much easier to play a low block against us so we need to tweak something rather than go out and do the same thing we did on Thursday.

Just when we need Divock he’s crocked, f***in Sod’s law, I reckon he’d be the perfect foil for Jota playing through the middle with Bobby sat in behind, with Curtis & Alex supporting and Fabinho as DM, we’d have a nice balance about us without  the usual suspects, so a flip of a coin for me between Taki & young Kaide, very tempted to go with the young man and just tell him to have fun, would probably have to have Bobby through the middle with Jota left side to accommodate, we’d be a bit lightweight centrally but the bee’s have lost a bit of their buzz and won’t be as open as the away fixture, well , i fookin hope not, or we could be as stuck as sticky the stick insect stuck to a sticky bun !!

Incidentally, anyone any idea how far away Harvey is of his comeback?

Back to tomorrow’s game Jürgen will probably go with Taki again but you never know….

Thought Chelsea’s philosophy was completely wrong in a game they had to win, should have pressed from the beginning instead of waiting till they were One nil down

                  Ally
      TAA Matip VVD Robbo
        Hendo Fab Jones
          AOC Bob Jota

Bit of a struggle putting that lineup together.
TAA poor last time out, but hard to select Neco ahead of him in the starting XI.
      Ally, Matip, VVD no brainers.
Robbo, you could switch with Kostas, not much in it based on form/delivery.
Hendo and Fab haven't been great, but based on experience would expect them to start.
Jones surely has to start this one.
Up front, would prefer to start Jota in the middle, but Bob isn't used to coming in from the side, so he has to be in the middle.
      Then Jota will start.
Taki for me has been poor in the PL. Gordon against Brentford, don't see it. Would start Origi but he won't be fit. So based on ruling guys out, would probably just about go with AOC ahead of Taki. Full disclosure, I'd have sold AOC 2 years back, so it's not my ideal choice. But who knows what Jürgen will do.

      Need the win. Fingers crossed...

We lose or draw this, and we will struggle to catch city.

City have won the league but it would still be good to win a few games in a row and get some pride/form back for the cups

Our wafer thin squad and skint approach means we ain’t going tO be signing any new players until this lot drop dead

great thing about football is the Arsenal game Thursday is done finished so its back to optimism again and a victory at Anfield.
The league has gone but we can at least let them know we are there if they slip up which all teams can. No idea on the line up Jürgen has got some thinking to do

If we win this we aint catching the fuckers.

This will be a battle tomorrow and usually the added quality of our front lads would win it for us. As it will be we will need to battle and even then we have to create chances and take them.

Jota the only man we have capable of scoring consistently so set pieces vital for both teams.

Forget City, we aren’t catching them even if we win this.

I agree, the title is gone already.

I’m thinking secure top 4 now, we have to.

I'd love to see us go 442 or even 352.

There's no catching City so let's secure this top 4 and not take it as a given.

As much as I truly believe the league title has gone...
Win our games in hand and it’s 8 points.
They could get any covid or injury crisis before now and end of season.
Champions league resumes soon and they will be hell bent on that.
Plus we still have to play them again.

So we need to just keep going and if they slip up then we need to make sure we are in a position to make the most of it.

      Starting today!

Taki dropped and rightly so. Problem is I now have to watch the Ox at RW.

Anyway let's give it our best.
