Think that’s the rationale behind the decision. We have four options for three positions: Firmino, Jota, Minamino and Gordon. Two out of those four are nailed on in Firmino and Jota.

Firmino’s best position is through the middle by far. Which leaves left forward or right forward for Jota and he is better on the left. The right forward spot is Gordon’s natural position and it’s an unexpected move for which Arsenal surely haven’t fully prepared.

Minamino is ineffective coming in from the right. Lacks the pace and trickery to beat a player 1v1 in that position, something Gordon should, in theory, excel at.

Minamino is a great impact sub and will probably come on for either Jones or Gordon depending on how the game is going.

Chuffed Jürgen keeping the faith on Kelleher & Kaide, certainly doesn’t  bode well for Taki now, he’ll have to work his nads off just to get on the bench, anyhoo, hope the covid ravaged arse-holes come out to play, how can they go from not been able to play at all Saturday but can field a near full team 5 days later ?
