It’s always been there
Some appreciate his hard work and some don’t
Go and watch a video of him last season against City
The only issue with Diaz is too many compare him to Mane
He is a great player for the team
I agree with Don. They are far too sporadic and infrequent that it is the exception to the norm. We could and should be doing so much better and three years is long enough to judge him. He works his socks off for sure, but a lot of the running is aimless and in dead space. He finds himself in no mans land on break attempts neither far ahead enough to ping it nor deep enough to collect. (See his display off the bench against Villa last week).
His display against Man City last season (at home I'm guessing?) was shocking. He missed two gilt edged chances that a player at that level should have taken but he bottled them both big time. We came out of a match that we should have won having only drawn. That's not a big game player. It was our chance to make a statement in the title race but we didn't. City came away the happier team and we proceeded to fall by the wayside in stark fashion.
In hindsight, we were never going to win the league last season. The injuries and exhaustion mounted up and we were kind of pitiful from March onwards. But we weren't to know that when that game was played.
Our standards could be better than Diaz and Nunez and they will have to be in the event of Salah leaving. It's as simple as that.
