His dip in form largely coincided with the time he was playing centrally. On the left he has usually been pretty good and his end product has significantly improved this season too. His ability to carry the ball at pace helps a lot with the transition and possession in higher areas. I think the focus this summer will be on improving the central position and the Gakpo/Diaz combo is likely to persist into next season, barring some kind of unexpectedly good offer for him.

well I for one don't compare him to Mane..or anyone else. For me the only issue with him is his lack of consistency. Last night proved again that when he's on it he's very effective, but you can't deny he too easily allows his game to drift too often. The frustration comes from knowing he has the talent but doesn't always show it.

      That's it.

Another nothing performance from a nothing footballer who reaps the benefits of what Mo Salah does. Average ... at best.

      Dreadful. Just utterly dreadful.

A midtable Premier League standard player but not elite and not good enough to be starting for Liverpool. Writing was on the wall when his father was making eyes at Barca and Madrid, the player himself apparently diagnosed as dumb as he said f**k all. That his performances don't even warrant a second glance from those clubs is obvious, but I'm not having mediocre players using Liverpool as a platform for other clubs. That's a F***ing joke. And as ever with him when the going gets tough, there's no leadership, no grit, no winning mentality. He's flailing and all at sea, looking utterly helpless and, as ever, offering sweet f.a. with no end product.

A terrible indictment on the Lijnders masterclass (and sorry to say, but Jürgen in authorising such) in recruitment ('I personally scouted him, so I did' as he boasted in his self promoting book).

Along with Nunez, he goes in the summer. Easily replaceable.

Trying is the standard that should be expected of a professional. I don’t think that’s even negotiable. Slot could have started me and I’d have tried 😂

But as we saw today that wasn't the case, Salah nor Jota nor Szobo looked to try anything.

Slot could put on Ricky Tomlinson and we could sit around all night saying 'at least he tried'.

That's unfair though. Ricky would probably offer more end product that Diaz.

      You misspelt bottle.

That was a w*nk stain of a performance. Never has a player played with such a 'sh*t the pants' vibe as this clown.

Dreadful player who makes a fool out of anyone who says he's a good player. A con artist who makes Aaron Lennon and Shaun Wright Phillips look like Ryan Giggs.

I can't stand watching him play football. He takes players on and loses almost all the time. He evades players...by hop skipping and jumping sideways or backwards. He was so far ahead of a clearance from Robbo in the first half that at times he renders us a man down, as if we're playing with 10 men. Seriously his starting positions are F***ing disgraceful. And as for his much talked about 'work rate'...well I've never seen someone run so much for so little. His pitiful attempts at tracking back or making challenges always ends up in the opposition shrugging him off like a school boy. Usually half hearted challenges as well.

He reminds me of Skrtel who stunk the place out with his imitations as a defender yet got away with it for years because he was deceitful enough in the small moments and the look to fool people into thinking he was good at the important stuff.

So it's somewhat fitting that this was the player that got a good few pages devoted to him in Pep Lijnders anti football bible. Diaz is as strong am argument for the Director of football making the signings and NOT coaches who think they're better than they really are.

Sack him off. Sack him off quick.

He’s not as bad as being made out. What’s he supposed to do when the midfielders can’t progress the ball up to him in dangerous positions.

      I think that's a spot on comparison.

Does all the fancy YouTube reel highlights well enough for thickos to brand him as 'world class'. But tactically a liability who's long term presence in the squad can only be damaging. The worst thing about being half decent is that they stick around.

Opposition managers must have a field day when it comes to coaching their right hand side. All they need to do is get the ball out to Diaz and with him fannying about all the time, the opposition have got their defence organised. Sorted. Every single f*cking time he gets the ball, the opposition are back in position. It's the easiest and most predictable player to come up against.

It is...but enough of Diaz's abject displayz.

Defending players or thinking they are good enough will only bring us back down to pre Klopp levels is a bizarre thing to do.

His attitude isn't good enough either. He shirks the big moments by playing the man and handing the opposition the initiative. It's such a weak mentality that speaks of disrespect for himself and the team. As for his behaviour last year, getting his dad to talk him up for Barca and Real...it hardly screamed commitment either.

      He fails on all fronts.

God knows I've been critical of him over the years and lord knows I've tried to be fair along the way. His apologist defense is " he tries". Nunez too.

I appreciate his work rate, I really do. But if i showed up each day and tried hard at my job but didn't really make a difference, I would deserved to be fired. Diaz and Nunez aren't good enough to play for elite level clubs. They just aren't. Stop thinking with your heart and examine the years of data. They couldn't carry Mane or Bobby's bath water.

If Barca want Diaz we would be a fool not to take their money. Nunez needs to go too.

Gakpo? The guy that didn't score in the league or CL until November? That Gakpo? The season started in August.

Diaz has a goal and an assist more than Gakpo in the league and has also won more pens, but apparently Gakpo's been very good and Diaz utter trash? How does that work out then, because he can float some nice crosses right into the keepers' hands? Do me a favour.

He has a rather annoying habit of challenging a defender to try and get the ball off him, when a pass to a teammate is the percentage ball.
