I'm as big a critic as this kids got, but there is no denying that he works his ass off. His ability to run and push through, especially in the end of games after he's run himself into the ground is so impressive. Very selfless player to watch.

Some very nice play from Luis today, culminating in two super goals.

I'd be all for that.

I've been very critical of him as well but new season and another fresh slate so let's hope he adds that constitent end product.

Mate you are not the only one. Always felt like he does brilliantly till he gets to that final third, then just shits himself. Yesterday was the start of hopefully something different.

He can't allow himself to mess up time and time again in prime spots. Otherwise Gakpo is going to steamroller him out of the eleven. Which isn't saying much as Gakpo's got a lot to prove as well. Another game, another 0 goals and 0 assists. Ipswich were easy pickings to get a goal or assist or two. You just don't trust him. It's either lack of confidence or just sheer stupidity / lack of awareness. I think it's the latter. Not a hint of a clever player there in the two and half years he's been here.

Needs to knuckle down because my god he's had long enough. With any luck that father of his will keep his mouth shut as well.

His pace and energy is superb , creates a lot of issues and space for other players . He needs to get a goal to gain confidence but I wouldn’t sell him

He was a marked man before kick off, easy target number 1 for a lot of fans who won't support him, as if it's impossible for him to play well unless he scores or assists.

Just watching the highlights on MOTD now and he did a lot of eye catching things, the 30 yard half volley pass that set Salah off, beat his man and cut it back to Szobo who had his goal bound effort blocked, wriggling round a few defenders before cutely slipping in Bradley who had hit shot saved near the end.

Here we go, people were bashing this guy even before the season started. Now its kicked off again.

Theres always a scapegoat with some fans but this feels annoyingly manufactured and Football Twitter-coded.

i already stopped reading Twitter because of this sort of excessively negative, knee jerk, reactionary, witch hunt football chatter.

I hate that this place is becoming more and more like that hellscape.

If he was producing on the pitch I dont think anybody would be critical of the lad.

Some players stick in the craw more than others because you can clearly see the potential there but hes been here long enough and of an age where it really does need to translate into goals and assists.

First game. From what I saw (second half only) he had a pretty good game. Should have scored the chance he put over the bar but it’s early days.

It’s going to be hard for him to start producing brilliant numbers but IF Jota stays fit and Salah can maintain form throughout the season then it’s not the end of the world. I would think Diaz can still improve his numbers even if he isn’t ever going to be a Mane in front of goal. I understand the concerns over him holding the ball too long etc.

If he has a less than stellar year then by all means move him on, but let’s give him at least a few games under the new manager before we circle on him.

Hated ? Strong isn't it . Not sure who you are having a dig at but I can tell you now the comments no were near as bad as on some player threads. People.are allowed to voice their opinions on players and.if they feel that there are areas that are not meeting expectations whether you agree or not it is allowed. Or did you mean overrated 😉
