Luis Diaz Player Thread (F)

Was in the Anfield Road End today and it was clear to see that Diaz was the best player on that field. He was excellent and more of those displays will gladly make me eat humble pie. It was his work rate in his own half that impressed me much, something that I didn't think he was as assured at. But he did and you could see the confidence it gave Robbo to play the way he wanted too as well.

Gakpo by comparison, while nearly scoring a brilliant goal himself, was evidently less bothered about tracking back and harassing the opposition.

All in all, a fantastic performance attacking wise and defensively.

Apologies for late comment. Been out all day and only just caught the highlights. Be nobody happier than me if and when he turns his obvious talent and threat into the nitty gritty of goals / assists.

Watching the highlights thought some keepers might have saved his goal but it went in and that's all that matters. Also thought he had a strike right in the bottom corner that the keeper made a top class save from after that.

As for colloquial phrases about being 'hated on' I think that's come from our friends across the pond sadly. Because it's F***ing dumb.

IMHO If we as fans are truly interested in players playing well for the team and not mindlessly spewing pointless negativity. The kudos and applause should be as loud as the criticism. ESPECIALLY if said player plays well and has a MOTM performance.

Had a really good game yesterday, cracking goal, followed by an assist. Well in Lucho.

Lots of people sticking the knife in when he missed 2 difficult chances and played well overall. Gets MOTM. Crickets

Very happy with this lad this season.  And happy for him as well. As i said week of the first game, clean slate for everyone.

I certainly would have sold him end of last season. For multiple reasons.

But if he keeps this up, hes going to be the next one to put egg on my face and id be very happy about that.

Full of running today. 2 great goals. Contender for motm. Keep it going Luis ... Diaz Jota and Salah could reap very good reward this season.

Turns out he's not completely sh*t who just runs down blind alleys each and every game, and has a bit of end product about him.....mmh, interesting.

2 very different goals but brilliantly executed goals.

& let's not forget if Mo wasn't offside for the disallowed goal, he would've registered that assist for Trent.

Not only is he looking better in front of goal, he is looking more purposeful in general and is connecting with his team mates well. His general play and decision making has been very good this season and he seems to be taking less unnecessary touches.

I’m very impressed. From his signing up until his injury, I thought we had signed a superstar. Last season was a bit mixed but he’s getting me excited right now.

If I remember correctly from last season, I think he started off the same, on fire.

But as the Season went on he become more and more frustrating, only when it came to putting the ball in the back of the net.

Hope is unbelievable form at the moment, lasts through out the rest of this season and more importantly, the rest of his LFC career.

He was unlucky with his finishing last season, and started the current one on fire. All in all he's always been a very good player and that hasn't changed.

Likewise - Fabio Aurelio put it well a few posts above.

For someone who couldn't finish his dinner last season (and some) the finish for the second was so well done. Not as easy as it looks. If he keeps this up, he'll be approaching Mane level which is extraordinary given how far off it he was last season.

I sometimes think folk underestimate what a clusterfuk of a personal life Diaz had last season, pundits especially. Seem to have forgotten that his parents were fukin kidnapped, FFS. Kidnapped let that sink in.  Not a normal thing, can't imagine the stress and heartache he was under.

Probably only started to de-stress properly over the summer there.
