Can you see clubs queueing up to take him , seen what happened in Scotland this week and that’s a small club , lost their shirt sponsor and players resigned, it’s not a good look these days taking on an alleged rapist ,

In this day and age nothing surprises me any more Andy.  :f_doh: Because he’s so young and talented I do think he will play again. Obviously never play for United again but I do think someone will. Hopefully I’m wrong and no one goes near him.

It's the least they could do. Heck, Liverpool did the same when Firmino changed from 11 to 9.

      https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12801572/mason-greenwood-manchester-united-forward-has-all-charges-against-him-dropped

Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has had all charges against him dropped following the "withdrawal of key witnesses".

The 21-year-old forward faced allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. All three charges related to the same woman.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it had a "duty to stop the case" following the "withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light".

Those developments meant there was "no longer a realistic prospect of conviction", it added.

"In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case. We have explained our decision to all parties."

The investigation began just over a year ago, in January 2022. A trial date had been set for 27 November this year.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the decision to drop the charges had "not been taken lightly".

Chief Superintendent Michaela Kerr, GMP's head of public protection, said it was "only fair" that the force publicised the latest development given the "significant media coverage of this case".

She added: "The investigation team has remained in regular contact with the legal team, providing any updates of note, and so understand the rationale for the discontinuation of proceedings at this stage, and that this decision has not been taken lightly.

"Despite the media and public's interest in this case, we have decided not to comment on it in any further detail."

Ms Kerr did however appeal to people who felt they were, or might have been, a victim, reiterating GMP's "commitment to investigating allegations of violence against women and girls".

She continued: "An ever increasing number of officers are receiving specialist training and the force is more consistently utilising tools, available via the criminal justice system, to keep people safe and care for victims.

"If you feel you are or might be a victim, please don't let this case put you off asking for help."

When contacted by Sky Sports News, Manchester United did not comment. Greenwood remains suspended by United.

United announced on January 30 last year he would not return to training or play any matches "until further notice".

Nike also suspended and later terminated its sponsorship deal with Greenwood, while Electronic Arts confirmed he had been removed from active squads on its FIFA 22 game.

The Bradford-born player came through the United academy and made his senior debut in a Champions League victory away to Paris Saint-Germain in March 2019.

He has one senior cap for England, playing in the Nations League match against Iceland in September 2020.

I'm gobsmacked. its only a opinion but i thought ( still do ) think he was guilty.  Is it the usual case of hush hush money? one rule for us working class and another for the rich.

Yeah I think they've been paid a substantial amount of money.

Wasn't he put back in nick for messing with witnesses. Either way it doesn't sound good. The recordings of him were some of the most sickening things I've heard.

Sounds like the key witnesses to secure the conviction have backed out.

Yeah he was put back in nick for it. Thing is she must of been paid a small fortune to drop the charges. Obviously made for life now. He may be one of our own but still stinks to high heaven.

We now have the best manager since Fergie and I’m hoping he handles this like he did Ronaldo  ;)  I’d be surprised if he hits another ball for United. Our brand is far to big and all this does is damage our image rights going forward.  No doubting his ability for one so young but like many of us say! No player is bigger than the club, Ronaldo found that out with ETH.

Someones bank balance has massively improved by the looks of it then, no other reason for it. No club should go near Greenwood ever again.

Interesting that United doing their own internals investigating before allowing him to train/play again.

Don't see what that will gain to be honest. It was a year ago now that this started (I think), there's plenty of evidence there just in the public domain alone. United wont get access to case files, evidence that isn't in the public etc so what exactly is there to investigate? It's a disgrace they didn't terminate his contract last year. If United allow him back, they will suffer big time with their reputation and it will do more harm than good having him back.

He will get booed wherever he plays, if he plays, and his reputation, as it stands, will stain any club that goes near him. You wonder why the key witnesses withdrew and indeed what new material came to light -- perhaps the only way he could come back is if this were disclosed and put him in a better light.

I totally agree KK with everything you say apart from them not getting access to the files, these days nothing is secret and generally comes out in the washing eventually.

Any new so called information should be made public if it does indeed exist.? There’ll be no rest bite for him on the pitch, even a section of United supporters would probably turn against him. I don’t think there’s any material anyway. I think the reason for saying it is arguably so he may not get as much flack, that ain’t happening either. He’s in for hard time no matter what’s going on behind the scenes. From what I’ve read and heard he’s guilty as charged.

The police is there to protect but not in cases where the culprit has enough money to pay his victim off. In that case, it's quite fine for said culprit to go out into society and continue being a threat to human beings. This country...

You being of corporate background should know innocent till proving guilty in court irrespective of the damming evidence against him.  😋😋😋
