I think klopp will pick the best 11 he can, its like the start of january all over again, players need rhythm.

Agree. Do hope to see Elliott and Diaz cameos though.

Don't think the lads that are on international duty will feature but apart from that I think it will be our strongest team with plenty of second half changes (think there are 5 allowed in the FA Cup?)

5 subs is right. Agree Mane and Mo should sit this one out even if they have returned to Liverpool by then. How about Bobby, Jota and Lucho as a front three?

Am I missing something here, what international games are on ? The Afcon is all but done, is it not ?

Anyhoo we need to get back on track asap, so I can see a strong  X1 Vs Cardiff, basically off the top of my heid I’ll go for this…………

                                               Allison
                               Trent  Konate Gomez  Robbo
                                  Hendo  Fabinho. AOC
                                 Gordon     Bobby   Jota

Bench; Kelleher, Virgil, Elliot, Morton, Thiago, Jones, Kostas, Musialowski, Woltman, Stubbins

Being a cup tie it will be all blood and thunder from Cardiff initially, but once things settle down we will dominate and will find it fairy easy, I’m saying this with my eyes closed, so if it goes tits up no one can blame me 🤪,

      3-0 the Mighty Redmen.

Live on ITV this weekend ladies and gentlemen!

(When was the last time we were on ITV? Probably that god awful return to the Champions League in 2014 when we went crashing in the group stages. Ugh - worst season ever. Probably the most unpleasant displays and results I've ever lived through as a Liverpool supporter.)

edit: Sorry that reference to 2014/15 reads like a Principal Skinner Vietnam flashback. Let's get back to the present!

      Trent - Matip - VVD - Robbo

At last…, a live game of club football to watch.

Been bored stiff these last couple of weeks. Actually feels like months.
Nearly back to normal then. Just can’t wait !

Strongest side available to start. Get it won, then make subs.
Going for 3:0 to the red men, but need to double check my prediction. Think I went 4:0 but thought mo snd Sadio would be playing.

there seemed to be some problems with the Cardiff Manager at the end of the game last night not sure what happened.
Can't wait for this as its the very best antidote to all the crap in the News.
I have been watching lots of Fans reaction from across the world to the CL final in 2019 and the one thing that gives us hope is that no matter where they are regardless of colour creed or Religion the noise and euphoria displayed is the same the world over its quite humbling to watch really. So lets hope across the world Reds will unite in thrashing Cardiff.

Per Jürgen today, Lucho is still in Paris awaiting some paperwork so hasn't flown in yet, hasn't trained and so I would think we won't see him on Sunday except maybe in street clothes waving to the fans.

line up should be interesting as I think Sadio and Mo will need some sort of break when they come back next week so possibly weakened side but strong bench.

      From The Athletic today:

In the absence of any enticing offers from elsewhere, Minamino and Origi were both happy to stay put on deadline day.

Minamino’s situation was complicated by the fact he was away on international duty with Japan at the time. Origi, who has an appearance-based clause in his contract which could yet trigger an extra year, is likely to leave as a free agent this summer. The Belgian is close to full fitness after nearly two months out owing to knee swelling and eager to get back playing.

Club just tweeted a piccy from today's training showing Divock, Naby AND Thiago in action.

Naby's not getting my hopes up again, but he was out there today (played every game in AFCON too  ) .

I just saw that too. You and me are being responsible talking about easing him in when in our heart of hearts we're saying:

      START HIM ON SUNDAY Jürgen!!!!

you know what he may well start him. But I still think bench and get last 15mins or some such.

Club just tweeted a piccy from today's training showing Divock, Naby AND Thiago in action.

Naby's not getting my hopes up again, but he was out there today (played every game in AFCON too  ) .

Actual. I now think Naby could start. he was playing well at afcon, start the boy every time hes fit I say.

Kelleher; Trent, Matip, VVD, Robertson; Henderson, Jones, Ox; Gordon, Bobby, Jota.

Half an hour for Thiago and Elliott hopefully and maybe 10-15 for Diaz.

Hoping to see Harvey get some playing time with Diaz…

I woke up at 3:30 a.m. local time and couldn't get back to sleep, and yes, my idle thoughts kept drifting to Anfield, this match, and who gets into the team.

The more I thought about Lucho playing, I mean, he's been in regular training with Porto and then Colombia. He would have trained with our first team yesterday, whatever they did, right? It shouldn't be any kind of injury risk. As others have said, it would be a fairly limited sub appearance and I suppose the match needs to be in hand for that to happen, but there is still a good chance for that to happen.

i feel like I'm way too old to be this excited about it, but I truly am. GREAT to see the Reds playing again.

(EDIT: I almost forgot, while I wait for kickoff I've got ski jumpinp live from China on the TV. Athlete after athlete go soaring through the winter air. It must be the closest thing humans have to flying without the aid of machines. I feel like I could compete in this sport if there was a category for "fastest plummet." )

      Thiago trained yesterday, I think.

It's years since I've been as up for an early round domestic cup!

its blowing a gale here and cold not like Porto for sure. terrible kick off time and I think Cardiff have played two or three times since we have had a break. One of those games were we could struggle or just blow them away

What with the pollution levels in parts of China, I'm surprised that the ski jumpers haven't got stuck in the sky!

Would love to see a mixture of youth and experience. I always think it's a bit of a shame when young players make their debut in a side overwhelmingly dominated by other young, inexperienced players. Thankfully Jürgen's been quite good at that - blending the two here and there.

Unlikely but I’d love to see this X1 run out today……..

                                               Alisson
                                 Trent   Matip Virgil. Robbo
                                   Hendo    Naby.  Thiago
                                    Jota      Bobby   Diaz

Would  two days with the squad be enough for Diaz to familiarise himself with our system? Possibly, but it’s a bit of a ask that I don’t think we need to burden him with, but then again he’s smart enough to adapt and if we’re all honest I don’t think Cardiff will be too much of a test, so can we then consider that it could be the perfect game for him to make his debut ?

Alternatively we could also see thus……..

                                                           Alisson
                                          Trent.   Matip.   Virgil.  Robbo
                                              Hendo.    Naby.    Jones
                                              Gordon.   Bobby.   Jota

You could easily make a case for both X1’s, however as with all our new players Jürgen likes them to have a few sessions on the training pitches first to allow them to adapt and get used to how we play, so we’ll have to see I guess whether we Chuck him straight in or not !

Really cannot see a upset here, but it is the FA Cup and it’s fraught with danger, you only have to look at how the MUtants fared against the Smogmonsters, still laughing my tits off, and the decades of history of cup upsets !!     Not going to happen today .

Easily 3-0 for the Mighty Redmen
