Team will have to guard against a letdown after such an intense match Sunday and knowing they are up by two goals. I don't doubt that professionalism and the prize at stake will make a sufficient bulwark against any sort of flatness.

I would expect maybe a few changes, including Konate, Keita, probably Diaz and maybe Firmino.

Should be a great occasion for those lucky enough to attend.

Think Fab needs a blow here and Naby to start with Hendo holding . Bobby and Diaz to start and basically use of subs when hopefully game safe .

Ali, Gomez, Konate, Virgil, Kostas, Hendo, Keita, Jones, Bobby, Diaz, Salah

Think Gomez and Kostas have proven themselves well to fill in for Trent and Robbo, we have the 2 goal advantage and a bit of breathing space whilst having plenty of players more than capable of coming into the team and resting a couple ready for another showdown with City.

No doubt Jürgen will shuffle the pack again but if it were me I’d be going full on and get the job done, so strongest side possible from the get go and see where we’re at @ HT, Benfica know their chances are gone if their honest with themselves but will still be professional as always and want to perform so we need to be on our guard and treat the game as if it’s 0-0,

With City up again at the weekend it would be perfect if we can bag a couple before HT, then we can rest a few, 5 subs remember, give game time to those who normally warm the bench, we’re not going to squander a 4 goal cushion inside 45 mins are we ?

Assuming everyone is fit & healthy I’d go with this………

                                                                   ……...    Alisson
                                                               Trent.  Konate.  Virgil.  Robbo
                                                                 Thiago   Fabinho    Keita
                                                                     Salah     Jota     Diaz

Let’s put this to bed early as possible and use the bench to shore it up, not a game where we will need to be full throttle, performance pretty much irrelevant, just be professional that should be enough to get us through.

Think we will see a fair few changes tomorrow night.

Ali; Trent, Konate, VVD, Tsimikas; Henderson, Keita, Jones; Mane, Firmino, Diaz.

Hopefully we get an early goal to settle us down so it doesn’t end up tense like the Inter game!

      Heavy rotation for me too:

      Ali
      Joe Konate VVD Tsi
      Ox Hendo Jones
      Salah Bobby Diaz

That should be enough to not lose. I want Klopp to feature our best 11 in the FA Cup Semifinal bc I wanna see us lifting the trophy. It would also mean that Jürgen did win any possible silverware at least once - nice feature.

Think it might be a good idea to start Mo tomorrow. If he can get himself a goal or two it might do him a lot of good going into the business end of the season. There are going to be lots of opportunities in this game and if he scores early enough, he can be taken off handily with future fixtures in mind. He's been snatching / trying too hard in a lot of his play lately, a goal or two might get that monkey off of his back

                         Ali

      Trent Gomez Konate Tsimikas

                     Fabinho

          Keita                   Jones

      Taki          Bobby         Diaz

Would keep Fab and Trent in to get them feeling their usual selves again. Salah and VVD rested out of necessity IMO. Robbo just because we can, same with Hendo, Thiago and Mane.

Taki deserves more playing time IMO and Bobby/Diaz will be beautiful to watch together.

      Gomez----Konate-----VvD---Robbo
      ---------Ox--------Fabinho-------Ketia--
      ------Salah-------Firmino---------Diaz

See a few changes for this one. Don't expect both fullback to be rotated as well expect Ketia to start and Thiago to sit. Interested see who klopps starts up front. Figure Daiz and Firmino are locks, my hunch is Klopp will keep playing Salah until he finds his score boots.

Early goal be huge, ease the pressure off and maybe luck out in sense of it will be a game we won't have to excert much energy.

Can see 3 or 4 changes, the five subs allows a bit of leeway. Would prefer to start strong and can always change if it's quite comfortable.

One game at a time :)

Of course I prefer to play Villareal than  Bayern. But Emery is a master in European competitions. Not to be underestimated.

He was the manager with Sevilla when they beat us in the EL final, correct?

That said, over 2 legs i am more than happy to face them over Bayern.

Great game between Chelsea and RM. I think City (if they get through) will destroy RM, but we shall see.

Think he's won the competition four times in total. Three times in a row with Sevila and with Villarreal last season. That was back when the winners didn't get awarded a Champions League place the following season so you could win it consecutively

Can’t make my mind up if I’m happy Bayern lost. At first glance it sa yes but I watched the first leg and thought to myself they looked wide open and could see our lads really opening them up. This Villarreal team are strong at the back and they break very quickly

As for tomorrow night I would expect to see Keita, Diaz, Bobby and Konate in the starting line up. Another tricky game because the crowd know we’re two goals to the good and are expecting in progress before a ball has been kicked.
