So has the atmosphere gotten back up to speed since you posted this?

Anyone at the Atletico match have a story to share?

The atmosphere the other night was what it should of been, we were virtually qualified. It's still ten times better than before Klopp rocked up.

Was great at Atletico. Was in the lower Anfield road which is the certainly the loudest place to be besides the Kop. They've recently installed safe standing / rail seats on the back few rows which I think will help the atmosphere. Massive difference between there and the likes of the Main Stand which can be very quiet at times. Think the sending off lowered the tone a bit as Atletico really seemed to retreat after that and we understandably took our foot off of the gas a bit.

Only small gripe from that game was some of the chants were a bit un-Liverpool like. The "Simeone is a w**ker" was a bit cringe. Sort of an Archetypal lower league chant that I didn't expect to hear at Anfield. Think we really need to give the "Ole's at the Wheel" chat a miss too, unless of course we're playing United & if by some miracle he's still there next time we meet. Sounded great at Old Trafford but I think there's a time and a place for piss take songs. All in all was a great night though!

Wasnt sure where this would best fit

Looking to see what people feel about the ole at the wheel chant becoming a bit of a regular now?

Great little number. But do we need to hear it v Atletico? Will we need to hear it v West ham? We have so many songs to sing about ourselves, plus we have 11 players to sing about rather then a manager of a rival club

Yes its great sticking the boot in but I find it a bit, well, man utd. They and others like chelsea sing about us all the time which Ive always found odd, pathetic, but yet slightly flattering. Are we going that route?

      Only just seen this.

It's sh*te mate and a bit of fun poking at Old Trafford but that should have been the end of it

      We're better than that.

Tbf that "Simeone is a w**ker" chant sounded like something from the late 80s.

      Quote from waltonl4
I dont go much these days but I still prefer the old days of the mid 70's and on. We would get to the ground as soon as possible when the gates opened. Couldnt afford a programme but would wait for the first glimpse of the players walking out fully clothed before going back and getting changed for the warm up. Watching the halftime scores going up along the Kemlyn road stand whilst trying to get a glimpse of a programme to work out what they all meant.
First major event was the Uefa cup final at Anfield which if I remember was rained off and then played the following night with John Toshack now in the starting line up.

Yes it was. Looking at the pitch from the night it was played, certainly wouldn't meet UEFA standards today.

In a sign of how far behind the club was commercially, we were one of the last top clubs to have pitchside advertising. It was introduced gradually for a few years until 1981/82, when all of the pitchside was used. That continued until 2008 when LED advertising replaced it.

Before any advertising at all, the half time scores were displayed. I still wonder what was the point of it, when most of the scores would look irrelevant with e.g. 10 minutes of the second half remaining.

Just saw this lovely story on the Echo website, and thought it was worth sharing. It's nice to see how inclusive our club is.

'It 100% increases my love for the club' - heartwarming moment for Liverpool fan at Anfield during Ramadan
Liverpool's victory over Manchester United saw a Muslim Liverpool fan who is currently fasting during Ramadan have a fantastic experience when he went to pray during the game.

Liverpoolā€™s resounding 4-0 victory over Manchester United on Tuesday was a brilliant evening for everyone involved at the club. But on Wednesday an extremely heartwarming moment that happened in the stands was revealed.

Rahat Chowdhury, a Liverpool FC fan, tweeted about his fantastic experience of the game at Anfield when he went to pray. Chowdhury is a Muslim and is currently fasting due to Ramadan which this year began on April 2nd and ends on May 1st. During Ramadan, Muslims fast between dawn and dusk so they donā€™t drink or eat anything during the hours of daylight.

He tweeted: ā€œI was fasting when I went to Anfield yesterday and after I broke my fast I needed a place to pray. I went to the stewards to ask for a place to pray and not only did they escort me to the prayer room outside the ground but they also guided me there, waited for me to finish so I was allowed back in.

ā€œIā€™ve genuinely never met such helpful and respectful stewards like this and I feel they should be appreciated especially when they respect something so important as religion to someone like me. I was able to get one name and that was Sharon and her steward number was 738 at Anfield. @LFCHelp @LFC I hope you see this and take it into consideration.ā€

Chowdhury regularly attends Liverpool games and travelled up to the game from where he lives in Luton on Tuesday. Speaking to the ECHO, he explained: ā€œAs a Muslim we pray five times a day and itā€™s Ramadan right now. A lot of the players like Salah and Mane are also fasting. I went all the way to Anfield and met my friend. I took a meal deal into the stadium to break my fast and at sunset Liverpool were 2-0 up so we ate.

ā€œTo pray I usually have a portable prayer mat or just use my jacket and face towards Mecca - I have a compass on my phone. I went to a steward and just said is there any way I can pray now. I appreciated that the prayer room is outside the ground and we were in a football stadium and obviously the rules are once you leave the premises you canā€™t come back in so they said to give them a minute. Sharon came over and she walked me to the prayer room and was really nice and welcoming. She waited for me to pray and then afterwards took me right back to where I was sitting.ā€

For Chowdhury, having attended matches this season at other grounds, the experience at Liverpool was by far the best. He said: ā€œIā€™ve been to Arsenal, West Ham and Luton Town games and even Wembley. No one is accommodating like Liverpool are. It 100% increases my love for the club. Itā€™s a very community based club and they actually care about the fans. The fact they did what they did made it even more special.ā€

Liverpool got in contact with Chowdhury and said they would speak with Sharonā€™s manager. There were also two other male stewards that helped out but Sharon was the only name that Chowdhury noted.

This was an extremely uplifting story and is a far cry from a 2015 controversy when a Liverpool fans rounded on a supporter who tweeted a picture of two Muslims praying at Anfield and shamefully labelled it ā€œa disgraceā€. Chowdhury was delighted by the change in attitudes at Anfield. He said: ā€œThere was no prayer room back then and it is just great to see how the club has changed from that incident.ā€

The room that Chowdhury went to pray in is a multi-faith room and has been in operation at the club for a number of years. It is available for any fan of any faith to use it as they see fit. Liverpool FC stewards undertake training in how to support fans of different faiths and are educated all-year-round, including at particular times of heightened sensitivity such as Ramadan. This is part of the clubā€™s attempts to be as inclusive as possible and make sure that fans of all faiths feel they belong at Anfield and are part of the wider LFC family.
