Wont matter who you add. Milner by a mile…. Make that 2 miles.  ;D

Well, I wasn't suggesting adding them to the greatest free transfer list. They'd be right at home in the worst free transfer list.  :)

Went for Matip. At his best he’s been arguably top 3 in the world in his position. And this season, where we may yet win everything going, he has been at his best.

Millie but only just from Matip.

I think if Joel delivers another successful, injury free season then it has to be him.

Aside to voting, the total number of appearances or appearance per season would also be a good overall long term gauge. We can include these stats if voting responses are underwhelming.

Love Millie and could be recency bias but went for Matip, more because I think at his best he is as good as any CB in the league. This season he has been outstanding, so reliable and chipped in with important goals. He seems quite a humble guy too -- you hardly hear a word from him in the press and he conducts himself like a true professional. In terms of being a find he's our best free.

Jesus some of them f**king names though. Kvarme, Staunton, Meijer, Voronin and Degen. Could you have even got a footballer out of that pile of sh*te.

Staunton never should have been allowed to leave in the first place, why Souness let the likes of him and Beardsley walk was beyond me. It's fair to say he wasn't the same player when he came back from Villa.

I haven't voted yet because i'm split. I think Milner probably gets the nod but Matip has been superb and we've seen just how good he is the last two seasons once his injuries have cleared up.

The one player I would have added to the list would have been Robbie. He was excellent in his 2nd stint at the club and did more than a bunch of the other names on the list.

I think the most dissapointing for me would be Joe Cole, i know he's not on the list but i was excited when he signed but he was poor and his body was pretty much shot at this point.

Great shout on Robbie. Can remember how happy I was when we signed him back, like a kid again.

Agree on Cole. Was totally shot when he came to us and to boot he seems like an absolute gobs***e as well.

Steve himself said Souness told him he’d have to leave as with him, he had more than the regulation number of non English players in the squad. Staunton being Irish 🤷‍♂️

I’m torn between Matip and Millie.
To be honest I didn’t realise Matip was a free.

My vote went to James Milner. 288 games for us, not all starts but an incredible player for us. Can play almost anywhere. Great professional. City let him go on a freebie, still can't believe it.

could you see a situation where if Millie stayed at City they would have own the CL by now I think his influence and experience could have made the difference

That's a valid point. His experience even coming on late V Real could've saved the day and he could've done it 2/3 times in vital C/L games. Pellegrini let him go on a free.

You get what you pay for !!

I’ve thought about this for a while and in my most humblest of opinions it has to be Millie, what he gives to this team you simply cannot buy, he’s a fookin good player in his own right first of all, but when you add on the experience he has over his career, the ups and the downs, it is simply immeasurable, at 37 yrs of age, that’s pensionable age in old money, yet he’s still doing it, he can still mix it with lads half his age, in today’s fast high intensity football its absolutely amazing,

Matip this season has been unbelievably good, last season we were lucky to see him play 2/3 times a month considering his injury record, but since he’s being seeing a specialist he’s never looked back, and most of us were of the opinion he wouldn’t be here much longer, including Jürgen, hence Konate arriving and big Nat sold to Bournemouth, for a free signing you won’t get much better than him,

Nah, Milner for me, how many 37yr olds can play in so many positions, not only play but be absolutely comfortable with it, RB, LB, Central midfield, DM, RSM, LSM, I bet he could/would  play up top too and in goal if asked,  James Milner what a player, what a fantastic role model for our young lads to be inspired by, I don’t know if he’ll sign a one year contract or not but if he doesn’t then I’d be signing him as a new addition to our coaching staff, forthwith, and have him working at the academy with the kids,

You simply can’t buy his experience, his knowledge, our kids would have the best grounding to start their careers learning from Jimmy, Get Him Signed Jürgen, you know it makes sense??

Has to be Milner for me. Not just for his ability to do any job at any time. I feel his professionalism has infected every player at the Club, he is the epitome of being a professional footballer.

There is a reason Klopp loves having him around, he epitomizes what it takes to represent a Club with unrelenting loyalty, passion and respect.

Some of my mates always question why Klopp keeps Milner around. If that needs to be explained to anyone then they don't understand Milner and for the same reason they will never understand Klopp.

I had forgotten how good Marcus Babbel was he was an absolute warrior illness robbed us and him if I remember correctly

He had Guillain-Barre syndrome. Partial paralysis. I know because I had the same illness in 2010. It can be fatal but in 80% of the cases a full recovery is the most likely outcome.

I had food poisoning and the bug attacked my nervous system. Lost all movement from the waist down. If it doesn't stop around the middle or thereabouts you're in serious trouble.Very nasty. It's very rare and I was just unlucky. I made a full recovery after about 12-15 months. Still get the odd twinge in my legs. Babbel made a full recovery as far as I know.
