I genuinely wonder how long we can stretch this argument in Nunez's favor.

Had the whole goal to smash that shot in but went straight at the Keeper.  F**k our Sporting Lives!!

The game before clean through on goal, not even on target.

Now I love the guy and his attitude to bits, but on both occasions, couldn't help but think to myself, F**k that Isak from Newcastle or Ollie Watkins from Villa would have buried both those chances.

Badly needs a goal or two, to give him some confidence, ideally against Atalanta, to set the tie alight !

Better at putting the ball in the back of the net, that's about it. Doesn't make them better players at all and certainly doesn't make him a dud, you can tell by the way all 3 play that Nunez is asked to do a lot more for the team. Watkins is 4 years older and 4 years ago he'd just joined Villa from the championship, he's had 4 years to develop into the forward we see today.

I think your opening line answers it... "Better at putting the ball in the net that's about it".

We have 4 "strikers" that are tied for 24th or better for goals in the league. Darwin being second for us on that list. I don't believe any other team has more than 3 and that includes City and Arsenal, the two best scoring teams in the league. Darwin is doing just fine. The thing is...had Jota not gotten injured, he'd likely have more goals which likely makes up the difference we need. Maybe he'd have taken away from the others but also...maybe not. A new manager is going to salivate at the chance to put our attacking force in motion. I still contend our offense isn't near the problem that our defense is.

We can have the whole team on that scorers table with Darwin right at the top but if we don't put chances away and lose then it matters nothing. We dropped points because certain players couldn't finish. Just because they're 9th on the scorers chart along with a couple of others doesn't get us the points

Yes, get behind the players. Some fans have agendas and are desperate for some to fail.

I don't have to rate a player to get behind them, if he gets the nod to start on Sunday I'll will him on to play at his best, I've just said what level I think Curtis is at. Nothing more to read into than that.

Harvey is also in that same boat about how I feel about a player and not sure he has a long term future here, still given him heaps of praise this season when he's come on.

I've no agenda at all. It's just been long enough with him missing sitters. Never really bothered me until the last few months and the time is now for him to start burying these chances and pull us through the last 6 games by doing what he's paid to do... score goals.

      No agenda, just disappointment.

Im only back 2 days and I see somethings never change!!

No Livrrpool fan wants any player or anyone involved in the club to " fail "

Calling out poor form, poor effort is not wishing failure its giving honest opinion on what our eyes are seeing.

Not just Darwin but every player has had sh*te spells and when they do and someone says oh he was sh*te or he needs to be left out for a game or 2 doesmt mean they are  on a wind up, if anything it means they are desperate for the club to succeed and call out things that might prevent that

Right or wrong on what some people say on here it doesnt mean they want failure or arent true fans, Jesus

My only agenda is for the club to be successful. Darwin will get us so far and entertain everyone in the process.

With a 20% conversion rate for big chances I dont think he's for a title winning side personally. He will have to improve that or he needs moving on.

      It’s lower

His conversion rate is about 11 percent

Nunez isn’t good enough, simple as that, he doesn’t have the game intelligence. He will go with the Andy carrols of the world

Eyes can’t deceive, people surely can see the same things but some have their head far up their arse they can’t see reality. They then go on the “we always back our players blah blah” no, no we don’t, we support the team and players but we also need to make sure we clear out players not good enough and bring in elite players to help us win titles

That is it ultimately. Him and Diaz are on borrowed time in my book (the latter I'd get shot of immediately - he's a glorified Aaron Lennon). Those are stats that are so far away from the level required.

The thing with Nunez is that he would fit seemlessly into our team from the mid-90s. But given where we want to be, that's not such a big compliment.

Does he have the talent to score gazillions and important goals? For sure - that Newcastle away match proved it. But that's all we have at the moment. Unlike Diaz and Gakpo, I'm sure there's something there. But I have doubts as to whether he can realise it.

Darwin Nunez isn't completely rubbish, he's just not consistently very good. He doesn't have a great attackers instinct...where to be, when to be there...what to do...basic football really. This chaos label has papered over the cracks...A sharp mind and discipline are what's needed. Will he mature into that player?....Do we have the time to gamble?

      Exactly how I feel.

We know he has all the ability in the world, could be and should be a dominant force in World Football but he just doesn't have the football smarts to go with that!

Imagine he did, would be unstoppable.

Thing is, we let him go and someone else taps into that brain of his and the next thing you know, the f**ker is winning Balon D'ors!! That's our F***ing luck, for something like that to happen!!!

Had 20 mins today and looks miles off. Offside, poor shots/decision making again. And could be doing with a strong finish to the season with summer coming.
