Thought the Saturday - Wednesday combo summed Nunez up.

Absolute worldie of a goal on Saturday before a completely toothless display midweek where we might as well have played with 10.

Darwin is an Anfield cult hero. The crowd rises every time he's on the ball. Only seems like a very small minority would shaft him. So feck them!

That minority being window lickers online!!

Seemed to be playing deeper, with Jota ahead of him

I thought working with Marcelo Bielsa for the Uruguayan national team would have helped Darwin move forward, but it's not looking like that...
Maybe a run of games would help him settle properly into life here, but I can't see that under Slot unless there's a couple of injuries within the forward line this season...

Mate he is into his 3rd season now. He has had plenty of time. And i still dont see what made us part with 80m quid.

He is 5th choice by a distance and 5th by a distance in terms of quality compared to the other 4. He doesnt seem to understand basics, stuff we were taught when we were kids either by coaches or just watching greats like ian rush.

Best use of darwin i think will be late on in games as a wildcard. Because every so often he will pop up with something special.

Great ball for Mo for the goal

His positioning and work rate last night was great , a number of times he was in a great position but Mo couldnt find him

Think it was basic stuff for the goal that we are relieved he pulled off. Not sure it's going to work. He's not for me Darwin. Like I said a few weeks back his consistency will always be in doubt because his off the cuff style lacks repeatability.

On top of dubious finishing and scruffy play his inability 3 seasons on to have learnt to curve his run causing him time and time again to run offside will probably be the undoing of him here.

Someone will buy him and I think we may soon look to sell.

One thing I noticed this week is how well Havertz uses his strength to hold the long ball up for Arsenal, it takes the pressure of the back four when under the cosh, and going the other way it allows for other players to get forward....This is another part of Darwin's game he needs to improve on. Yes he runs around, and now and again he'll score a worldy...but too often there's little tangible reward for his effort. It might be he just doesn't fit?....I don't know...Quite simply....He has to make/score goals and we can't forever keep saying he'll come good.

He is nowhere near the quality of havertz or any quality centre forward. He has abit of pace ...

Bobby firmino also held it well , in a slightly different role ... but was a quality 9. Goals, skill, vision and awareness of others. We have been spoiled by great no9s/strikers here. Grew up with Rush and Dalglish, then Fowler, Owen, Torres, Bobby. Nunez is nowhere near that class, the quality this club expects.

Not trying to knock Darwin either. Nothing against him. I like the lad.

I think best use of him would be as an impact / wildcard sub. Nobody knows what he is going to do. We need everyone and im sure he will have his moments of brilliance this season. I certainly hope so.

This the same Bobby that was often lambasted for his lack of goals?

“I don’t only focus on the individual,” said the Liverpool head coach. “I think in the first hour, we didn’t create a lot of chances for him as well because we missed out on the last pass on numerous occasions.

“If we had done better, that would probably have led to chances for him as well.

“His home game against Bournemouth, great goal. Today he was also involved against a team we faced that was really hard and tough on him. And his team-mates didn’t always find him when they could have.

“I don’t think it is really on us to say, ‘he only scored one for Liverpool’, because you also have to look at the playing time he got.

“It’s a bit early to say after three starts he only scored one. For me that is a bit too early.”

Cracking finish but I knew he was offside without even seeing the flag or hearing the whistle!
