With the way we are playing you would have to be mad not to play him it’s a no brainier, just look at the difference he makes to Salahs game. So he lost his temper hopefully he has learnt otherwise we won’t never play him

I'd start him aswell, think we need something different up top.
Just not sure Jürgen will have him in the XI, can be a bit cautious, though is usually right.
Defenders will be out to rile him after the red, so just needs to keep a lid on it.

Klopp has shown plenty of trust in him by starting him today after the ban and Bobby finding some form. Time to make amends for that red card with goals today.

Said the exact same in the match thread, hopefully, this is the type of move which we will look back on and say really kickstartered his season with us.

If we're playing him he needs a partner.

Something along the lines of Torres/Gerrard. Not a 2 up front but a 1 and 1 behind to link.

I'll be honest with you, I'm starting to think Nunez isn't the player we hoped he would be. Early days but I remain unconvinced.

Based on what? He’s barely played and when he has the midfield behind him has been garbage

My opinion is based on everything I've seen of him so far regarding the basic things. He can barely make a pass. His control is bad, his link up play is bad and he misses a sh*t load of chances. Out of his goals he's scored one clean one from what I remember. The rest have all bobbled off him.

I really want him to do well I just can't see it when he's so bad in the basic things.

The kid's had one good season then we paid top dollar for him. I think we've wasted our money. The amount of chances he misses or miskicks is mental

It's been pretty much the same for the whole frontline. Apart from Bobby who we can criticize more parts of his game because he drops deep as a false nine, the other forwards have been completely starved of any creativity behind them.

We can criticize him, Salah, Jota and Diaz all we want, but as long as this is the type of performance we put in midfield then don't be surprised those guys are all going to be statistically underperforming. At this rate I'm even surprised these guys actually scored goals so far this season. I did not see anything that resembled even slightly a quality pass or creative piece of play to feed on presented to any of them apart from the first half pass from TAA to Salah which he miscontrols.

Maybe it's not our midfield that's the problem.....most of our assists came from our fullbacks and right now, they aren't creating sh*t. I suppose you could argue that the mids are getting the ball out wide, but really, that wasn't always the case as it were anyway. I think this problem is bigger than just some lackluster midfield performances. Our all around game doesn't look the same as a year ago. We don't press the same way, we don't create the same way, we don't recycle the ball the same way. We look kind of like a monkey F***ing a football out there most of the time.

Has looked pretty clumsy so far, which let's be honest is not exactly a great sign on a player in any position. I personally think this has to do with the way most teams set against us. They defend very deep and Nunez seems most at ease when running at defenders with space - you can clearly see he isn't comfortable picking the ball under pressure and with his back to goal or linking up play in tight spaces. It's just not the type of player he is. That was Bobby like 15 years ago.

Admittedly a bit worrying considering the team is creating absolute jack antimatter sh*t; he doesn't seem to be the type of player to create situations on his own, unlike say Diaz. But honestly- I don't think he was supposed to bring that type of contribution to the team, so it seems like an unfair standard to judge him by. I'd withhold judgement until he gets a decent run and we actually look even remotely decent in other areas of the field.

Maybe if we played to his strengths we'd see more joy?

I'm not sure if the wisdom of buying a shiny new VF and then try and shoehorn him into the system that doesn't really suit him.

Smacks of the first time we've recruited a player without a plan for how to integrate him.
