Andy Robertson beat Baines’s all time assist by a defender last night.

Best not tell Evertonians just yet though. Don’t want to send them over the edge.

We've dropped points against some of the worst teams in the league, only one possible explanation: Lack of effort in those games, you have to put the effort in even against the dross, or you'll get caught out. Yesterday, though not perfect, we looked a bit more at it and got our reward. Keita showed a lot more appetite than Thiago, who struggled and didn't look fit.

They were awful lacked cohesion like a bunch of strangers . Think Naby will start against Leicester against teams that sit he will drive at them and play little give and gos . No way Leicester will play high as Villa

With the obvious revenue stream together with the global status of the tournament, The Champions league becomes more and more valuable season on season. We can say the top 6 is now a top 7, therefore it's evidently harder to get into a top 4 spot. I suspect it's dawned on the players that the fight for it is going to be considerable, not just this season, but every season, and the slow start (Pre WC) has made that already hard job even harder. If we are to attract top ranked talent, then securing a place in CL is paramount, no superstar will want, or accept anything less. The first and most important issue towards giving us a chance of top 4 is tightening up at the back, the defensive high-line has been found wanting and we are gifting chances/goals to the opposition far too easily. Concentration and reading the game needs to improve, also, being aggressive and on the front foot.... again, we have been far too lax in the tackle, with opposition getting shots off at will.
By the end of the season 3 of the big teams will not qualify for Europe's elite competition...let's not be one of them
      Happy New Year

You have to be envious about City having Haaland. He is the real deal!

If City doesn’t win the CL with Haaland then I think they never will.

Brighton have had 65% of the ball but only had 4 goal attempts whereas Arsenal have 13 attempts and 3 goals up. Sometimes I wish we played that way (away from home)  especially with our midfielder deficiencies. Arsenal and City do not give the opposition many chances, but we give so many chances because our midfielders keep vacating the central space and we are always pushing up.

Would rather them than City or Newcastle.

And call me crazy but I kind of like Arteta. Mostly from the Amazon series that followed them last season.

Been impressed with their bounce back after dropping point to Southampton. Got a tough run in January with Newcastle, Spurs and ManU. If they come away that period with same (looking like 7 points) gap might be a great momentum boost to give them belief.
