No CL club wants him so he's had to go crawling back

That’s probably much it. Who wants a player at this age in a career? He’s a freak getting this far but deserves his status/legacy.

I know most anecdotes that start with "A friend of mine..." are considered as suspect, but this is absolutely true.
I friend of mine, a few years back when R. was still in Turin, had been given the task of directing said superstar for a promotional job.
On arriving in Turin, R's management team instructed friend...On no circumstances are you allowed to speak with the great man directly. If you want him to know, or do something, it has to be communicated via "his people"

A exceptionally gifted striker I will concede ......But you can't argue against the fact he's a gold plated C**T,.... He revels in it

Could be a stalemate and end up going to pens. If they lose Pep will claim his squad used this as more of a warm up. They have made a few changes and like us will need a few games. Debruyne again is a threat and is obviously a class act.Get tight soon as he gets possession.

      Great starter for the season.

Is this game being treated as a non entity friendly just in case we lose it, or is there gonna be a last minute match thread 😊

On the CR front I'll only say he's probably the most philanthopic footballer ever..may be.

Having read Jürgen's pre match comments, I don't think the club see's it as a non entity. Undoubtedly, should we come out on top it will give us all a massive buzz, and a general confidence boost for the season ahead. Conversely, if we get hammered (Which I very much doubt) there'll be a collective sense of foreboding and trepidation.

       2-1 to us

It's an interesting point. Most philanthropic in the sense of largest amount given? It could be argued that a smaller amount given, but a much higher percentage of that persons wealth, is perhaps more generous. Also, you can't ignore the initiative of preferential tax breaks made available to the super rich.
Either way we'll never know the answer, a lot of people don't make it public

Or it could be the perception of him as a selfish brat, or a "muddied oaf " or that his charitable donations etc are a tax aviodance dodge are all misplaced. He's up his own backside, that's a given. Can't do what he does and be a shy retiring type.

I think I read somewhere that he sold off his 'the golden boot' for charity. I mean he's an annoying git but I was just redressing the balance slightly in that we don't always get the full S.P. Still a git though..but may be with a small g..

I expect a few of the youngsters will get a start. In terms of senior players i figure Konate, Gomez, Milner, Keita, Jones, Tsimikas will start the game, possibly even Elliott (although i can't believe i'm calling him a senior player!)

Take it Tzimikas is injured? Very youthful with a sprinkling of experience . Thought Jones would have started this. Less than a week to go protecting his core 15/16

      Starting Lineup for today:

Liverpool: Davies, Mabaya, Konate, Gomez, Chambers, Milner, Bajcetic, Morton, Frauendorf, Elliott, Carvalho.

Subs: Mrozek, Phillips, Clark, Van den Berg, Musialowski.

Also surprised at no Jones, especially as he barely had a runout yesterday.

Yes to Tsimikas being injured. Too bad we don't see him and Calvin Ramsay today.

Have a look at Bajcetic and Carvalho. Milly will be like a Grandad. Pity Ramsey isn't starting. Phillips still knocking about, good defender.

One thing I suspect some of these younger players will need to learn is they cannot always dribble their way out of trouble against senior footballers. Seen a couple try and fail already in this game.

Bit naive there. Need to get a grip. But it's only a warm up so it's more about tuning up. Two down inside 15. Just need to stay in it.
