Could get ugly this. Didn't expect to be 3-0 down after 20 minutes

3 great finishes to be fair..out of only about 4 attacks so the score doesn't really reflect the play. Add a positive spin on it..

Combined B & C starting XI nothing to get worked up about.

Definitely not. Top-half team from French top division with a full strength starting XI vs. a team with at least 5 players who haven't played a competitive game with our first team yet.

There's a movie I've been thinking of going to see....

      Is it called ‘Istanbul 2005’?
      It gets better....

Konate out with a bit of a knock - Van den Berg in. Bobby Clark in for Stefan Bajcetic.

Ffs. Did we really need this game? Did konate not get enough of a run out against united, Palace, leipzig, Salzburg etc

Yes better second half. Hard to pick out a chance as they just sat in and fended us off. Plenty of energy. Should've spread the play a bit more. 0-3 flattered them but good experience for most of the side.

A bit of a pointless game playing youngsters against an experienced first team.

The boys were just outmuscled out of every challenge which was to be expected.

Don't think it was pointless. We sign the cream of the crop and putting them up against quality not only gives them the chance to show what they can do, gives squad players yards in their legs. Konata getting a knock is no reason to decry the fixture.

Any other ideas on how they’ll learn 🤷‍♂️
They’ll be better for the experience.

Always good to see our youngsters get game time and I don’t like to write a player off so quickly that’s trying to break through but Mabaya hasn’t got a chance of making it at this level. Every time I’ve seen him play during pre-season he’s been shocking and he’s been directly at fault for a few goals. He looks like a forward playing at the back.

You have to be something special to make it here but unfortunately Mabaya is just not going to cut it.

Not necessarily a bad thing, they will have gained a lot more from this game than they would have playing 10 U23 games. A learning curve for many of them and even against an opponent such as this, it shows just how good you have to be to make it in the game.

I'm sure when it was scheduled the idea would have been for a few more first team squad players, like Kostas, Ramsay, Ox, to play.

Yeah I have no doubt but obviously injuries has prevented that. I’d say Ramsay being injured all summer is probably the biggest disappointment really, would’ve been good to see what he’s like and there’s a big importance to having a proper pre season in this team.

Full backs were both out of their depth tonight. Gifted them three soft goals.

Elliott and Milner head and shoulders above everyone else. Quiet from Carvalho.

Yes. Hopefully he can get back on track. League Cup matches would have been good for him to get game action but that may be out now. One thing this season, I expect Jürgen will use the World Cup period as a chance for additional training for the squad not involved, so maybe Calvin can catch up.

I see in his post-match comments that Naby and Curtis would have been involved in this match as well, but Naby is ill and Curtis "felt something."
