      Not the first team we’ve been soundly beaten in one of these friendlies arranged straight after the first team played the day before. I seem to remember us beating Barca one year and then getting thrashed the next day.

      Don't think it was pointless. We sign the cream of the crop and putting them up against quality not only gives them the chance to show what they can do, gives squad players yards in their legs. Konata getting a knock is no reason to decry the fixture.

      Exactly, its a brilliant runout at Anfield for loads of young lads.

      Watched it last night and at half time my concern was that a real drubbing (5/6-0) might do more harm than good to the development of the young lads in the team. However they showed tremendous character in the 2nd half and took the game to Strasbourg and but for some decent goalkeeping might even have had a goal or two. So all in all it probably ended up a worthwhile exercise. Oh and Strasbourg are getting nowhere near our first team if we ever have to play them for real.
