      Super league

Looks like the European courts has put a stop to the super league for the time being
Looks like Real Madrid Barcelona  Juventus  will need to find some other means of making some extra money

The whole super league debacle was less about a closed off league or protecting the integrity of the game and more about the football associations (FIFA and UEFA) protecting their product (and profits) to implement their own non-super league "Super League" dressed up as expanded UCL/WCC.

Fifa been trying for years to get their hands in on the club side of football as that has taken over in past 10-15 years. There must be a breaking point at some junction for the players? Just football non-stop

They were dead set against the idea last year joining in on the pile on on all the clubs who came up with the idea of a breakaway league. Now all of a sudden its a great idea now its them coming up with it.

Well if it is going to happen I'd have actually rather it be licensed by another body beyond FIFA/UEFA as was proposed last year by the original clubs.

The concept is stupid. Prem, CL, FA Cup should all take priority over it and surely you can't fit all that in 1 season.

if it was club world cup or super league, I would prefer the super league.

this was never about "integrity", UEFA and FIFA couldn't care less because the super league was a threat to their duopoly.

IMO there's already too many games, as the number of games ramp up so does the risk of serious injury plus the quality of performance is overly diluted and we end up with total burn out for players and supporters.

Barca, Juve and Madrid still pushing this in case those clubs go to the wall.

Basic greed so those clubs can get their grubby hands on even more tv money.

This is more FiFA trying to start a competition to rival the Champions League.

Agreed and until the players make a stink about it they will keep piling more and more fixtures on them

God forbid if Perez announces another Super league to rival both

UEFA and FIFA will start lecturing us about football integrity again.

I'd like to know what format FIFA would use for the 32 team club world cup. Will it be groups like WC or a knock out competition? Also, how many teams from UK, Europe and other parts of the world.
It's just another way for FIFA to make money. If the cash was funding grass roots football around the world I'd be ok with it but we all know it will go to make rich people even richer.

I assume that the big clubs will probably use if as a training exercise and lots of youth and squad players will play. Maybe when a club gets to the semifinals and final the first team might play.

Revenue of $7.5 billion in the 4 year cycle from 2018 to 2022 world cup. I'd like to know where it all goes but we are never going to see and detailed accounts.

Every sport thinks it's got too many games, or races, or competitions. That's just the way it is, and you've just got to get on with it, because if you don't do it someone else will. There are far more stressful occupations out there, than living a luxury lifestyle, by trying to kick a ball round a field.

      There is no comparison.

One is a badly run, poorly thought, money making scam devised by a handful of greedy Americans and Agnelli, that will never see a ball kicked in anger.

The other is an organised, expanded, legal, knockout tournament that you have to earn your place in. Basically the World Cup finals in it's current format, but for clubs rather than countries. While the international calendar is also been restructured. Of course there will be objections to it because there will always be objections to change, but this is a positive development, not the ESL in any way or form.

I cherished us winning that WCC title in 2019, and want to win it again. Only we won't necessarily have to win the European Cup to get in the next time.  With more teams in it and having it just once every 4 years, winning it will also carry more weight than it does atm.

Technically true you have to earn a spot but Euopean club football is closed off at the top to selective few, the same few that would be ESL which is why many (like myself) would view it in the same light. I just don't see expanded field to clubs from top 5 leagues and now playing more games in "Swiss format" other then more games, more PSG vs Bayern etc type games which means more money.

As for the format kinda sucks with four year gap as clubs who qualify as of result of winning their confederation club competition in the 1st or 2nd of the cycle will be completely different when it comes time for CWC. Think if surprise team won the UCL in the first year by the time WCC rolls around the big clubs will picked their best off and side won't be same as the one who won.
